We saw some good things, in a very, very tough loss.

A game plan and play calls tailored more to suit JJ10. Quick hitters. Running game with JJ24. Manny and Burnie. Hitch screen to Burnham.

''Outlet route, speed cut to Williams,'' says Suitor.

Beautiful pass to Shaq. JJ is looking more like the QB we saw last year. This fan has not lost faith in him.

Bazzie pressuring the QB. Decent pressure on Masoli.

Ty Long continuing excellent play. He seems very low maintenance.

The TiCats are not exactly world beaters. But they are much better now, under their new coach. Jones looks like a scholar on the sideline, with a folder full of notes and plays.

The Cats tried an onside kick. They saw something on tape.

End of Q3. Cats 18 - Leos 17.

Q4

Masoli is effective under Jones' leadership.

Rugby run for Green. OL moving the pile. Motivated. Good drive by Cats. ''Big guys up front love it,'' says Suitor. Field Goal. Cats 21 - 17.

The Lions played hard. The Cats have talent too. They show it more under Jones. He is very calm on the sideline.

8:23 left. Nice play to CW. 19 yards. JJ24. Hard hit on JJ. Clean hit. No helmet. Ty Long FG. 21 - 20, Cats.

6:18 left. Sack. Disguise at the LOS. Trickery, no less, by us. Credit the game plan tonight for some wrinkles. More detailed.

5:12 left.

Interference. Challenge flags gone in first half. JJ dart to Burnie. ''A laser,'' says Suitor. JJ24 big run. CW drop. FG. Key drive to take the lead. Lions 23 - 21.

1:57 left.

1:03 left.

We send the blitz. But they get the first down. Yikes ... Absolutely key play. Helluva catch. :14 left. FG attempt. BC 42 yard line. Gamer. Cats win.

From the tablet. Back later ...

This game was death by 1000 cuts.

As best as I can tell this was probably the point of no return for this team this year.

Wally you say you are what your record is. Well, your team is a LOSING one.

A season that started with so much hype and promise has turned ugly. Top teams do not lose to teams like Hamilton, who despite their record might actually be a better team right now.

I for one have seen enough. I'm sure there will be the usual blab from Wally about execution and players missing assignments, etc etc

The fact is Wally holds the top position in the Football department, the buck stops with him!

Too many years of an inadequate O Line and D Line falls on the GM (Wally).

We are consistently outcoachedand not prepared(Wally). This slide started in Regina when the Lions weren't ready for the back to back.

Wally's time in BC should and must come to an end at the end of this season. Unfortunately unless Braley sells, we will not get a clean slate.

It's weird, this team seems to have enough talent to win, they just can't get going to their full potential for some reason. We've seen flashes of brilliance and it's clear that they can do much better, yet they constantly keep underperforming. Offensive line didn't give Jennings enough time tonight, he was constantly pressured far too many times. Defense couldn't get a stop when needed. Play calling was absolutely atrocious as well.

Gotta give Hamilton some credit though, their running back seems really good.

On the bright side, the Felions looked absolutely amazing tonight, as always. If only the Lions could look half as good as they do...*sigh*

Why is it that prior to the game the majority of posters identified the need to get the running game going with JJ24, yet the Lions didn't figure this out until the 3rd quarter?

Same goes with calling plays where the Cats blitz and Jennings has no quick throw outlet receiver and it took until the second half to correct this.

Why is it that we rarely see Lions do stuff that confuses the other team and conversely never seem to do anything that takes the opponent by surprise? A boring predictable team is what we got here folks and a solid last place finish in the making.

The Lions had better hold off sending out their season tickets renewal forms. After tonights stinker, they may find a bunch of renewal forms "returned to sender". What a schmozzle......

I've had enough. Best thing for the Lions is to miss the playoffs. Then and only then will meaningful changes take place starting with new ownership, new coaching staff and actual marketing. Attendance tonight was 18,092. Lions are so embarrassed that they no longer announce the attendance.

No doubt Buono and his loyal coaching staff will be doing another self scouting during their bye week. NOT

I don't mean to pile on here and be disrespectful, but Wally can be testy and condescending to the media all he wants:

"Guys, guys, guys, it's not the play-calling. It's about what? (long pause because no one in the media has a freakin' clue what else it could be) **climbs on soapbox** It's about execution, right? At the end of it, it's about not making mistakes. Not taking dumb penalties."

But I hate to say it - all of those continual missteps lead to one thing....coaching. The players aren't buying into what's being sold.

Full credit to the Ticats for the victory. June Jones has them playing hard and starting to build some confidence. They made few mistakes other than a couple of early missed field goals. They didn't turn the ball over and they took few penalties. They also exploited the Lions' known weaknesses on defence to move the ball when the game was on the line.

The Lions did some things well too, rushing 22 times for 135 yards, including 14 carries for 91 yards (6.5-yard average) for Jeremiah Johnson. The offensive line was excellent, despite losing Hunter Steward in the first half (concussion protocol). Andrew Jones stepped in at left guard and looked just like Steward, making powerful run blocks to open holes for Johnson and looking flawless in pass protection.

The Lions gave Jonathon Jennings good protection most of the night and he played well for the most part, completing 22 of 33 passes for 350 yards without an interception. Each team had 5 QB pressures and 2 sacks. Jennings got rid of the ball much quicker this week, hitting Chris Williams 5 times on short passes while still completing a combined 11 passes to Manny Arceneaux and Bryan Burnham for 136 yards.

But the offence, which led the league with 30 touchdowns in 40 red-zone opportunities going into the game, was just 1 for 4 in the red zone. Ty Long went 5 for 5 on field goals, but settling for field goals instead of touchdowns was the Lions' offensive undoing. On one key drive in the third quarter, the Lions had first and goal from the Hamilton 3. They were running the ball well and Johnson should have been able to pound it in or at least get them close enough to gamble if necessary on third down. According to the postgame show on TSN 1040, Jennings had a run/pass option on first down. He read blitz and cover Zero so elected to throw a corner route to Williams but he rushed the pass and overthrew it. On second down, he read blitz again but Hamilton dropped a player into coverage. Jennings tried another deep corner route to Burnham but again he rushed the pass and it was uncatchable. Those were critical mistakes. In hindsight, the Lions should have simplified the game for him, taken away the pass option pounded the ball up the A-gap. That might have been enough to give the Lions the win.

Defensively, the Lions played poorly, missing tackles, failing to protect their gaps, allowing Alex Green to rush 13 times for 140 yards (10.8-yard average), blowing a couple of key coverages and failing to give Chandler Fenner any help on Luke Tasker in clutch situations in the fourth quarter when they could have closed out the game. Tasker had 7 catches for 96 yards and a TD on a third-quarter drive that featured two blown coverages on corner routes to the wide side of the field, which has been the Lions' biggest defensive weakness all year. In the second half alone, Tasker had 5 catches on 6 targets for 72 yards. He was lined up as the No. 3 receiver on the field side most of the time in man coverage against Fenner, who couldn't stop him. At one point the Lions sent Keynan Parker into the game as a sixth DB. I thought he would help double Tasker but he didn't. On third and 6 with 44 seconds left, the Lions could have doubled Tasker and won the game. Instead they left Fenner in man coverage. Tasker ran a 10-yard out for the first down to set up the winning field goal.

This team is not the Lions teams of the past. They make too many mistakes and fail to execute, to use Wally's term, in key situations. They're playing without much confidence and squandering their opportunities to win games. They don't have many opportunities left to salvage the season.

Tough loss

Will leave the analysis for those that do it well.

Seems like everyone is waiting for the season to end to find out what is going to happen.

Unfortunately good in theory is not paying. Serious chicken and egg kerfuffle going on.

Jennings

22/33, 66.7%, 345 yards, 0 TDs, 0 Ints.

This fan will take that. This fan has not wavered in his thinking that JJ10 has remarkable ability. He has taken some lumps, not made excuses, and played very, very well tonight IMO.

4 carries for 34 yards, 1 TD

JJ24

14/91 yards, 6.5 avg
........

Masoli also effective. Jones resurrected his career, it seems. Managed the game well. Did not even run for many yards. 2 TDs. 0 Ints.

Alex Green

13/140, 10.8 avg ... Way too much yardage given up here.

TiCats ... not a star studded receiving corps IMO. Masoli managed it well.

Burnham and Manny giving it their all. We still have not figured out how to use our two nuclear weapons, Chris Rainey and Chris Williams.

This team hasn't figured out a lot of things.
