I think we saw this coming.

It is never a happy day when a football coach gets fired. Most of these guys are relatively underpaid, overworked and overstressed.

Reinebold definitely moved to his own drummer. (I saw him speak once at a football clinic.) At one time IMO he was a pretty good ST coordinator for the Lions. Short stint as HC with the Bombers. I recall one whacky quote something along the lines of he traded a player for a bucket of tape.

This move is long overdue. The Ticats defensive liabilities were exposed in Week 1 when Ricky Ray picked them apart for over 500 yards. Instead of changing things up and playing more zone, Reinbold stuck with his philosophy of attacking the QB and hoping his inexperienced DBs could play press man coverage against the league's best QBs and receivers. They can't. It's not lack of skill. They've just been thrown in the deep end and told to swim.

When you're 0-6 something has to give. First of many changes to come.

Austin wants to keep Reinebold on staff. Good. Ex-coaches need income too.

Austin's demeanour was mild, smiling, but he looks very stressed to me.

June Jones is a good one. But I wonder if Austin will be looking back over his own shoulder.

If I were Jeff... Fire me or keep me, don't shuffle me! I can get a job elsewhere.

I never liked him. Would hate to see him come here in any capacity

Reinbold is a quirky guy who goes to the beat of his own drum. However he is an excellent Special Teams coach and the Lions ST suck. Just sayin'

Good luck trying to find a job in mid-season.

he is also an analyst for NFL broadcasts on sky sports in the UK when the CFL season wraps up, so at least he does have some other irons in the fire.

Looks to me like Austin just hired his replacement.
