According to Rick Dhaliwal.... some encouraging news on the Joe Smith front.

Joe is currently travelling abroad for the next few weeks but is planning to meet with Wally in February to discuss a contract extension. Apparently his chances of signing with a NFL team are remote at best which is in sharp contrast to what his agent said a couple of weeks ago.

Also... talks with Jarious Jackson on a new deal are progessing well.

I gather that Joe hasn't been trying too hard to land an NFL gig. That's great for the Lions.
