You already asked that question on Wed Sep 27, 2006 3:11 am at:

Since no one answered, then apparently no one has seen that series.
Yes I did and thought about quoting it, but I don't think that everyone bothers to refresh through this entire thread and since then, the new Survivors series has been aired on the BBCCA channel. Hoping that someone else had latched onto this series since it had been revived.

that stone faced young soldier who stood like a statue while a first nations "activist" was taunting and yelling in his face, in quebec. Forgot the name of the place.

wonder what ever happened to that soldier. Some tv shows should do a human interest story on him.

Are you taking about the Oka crisis and the guy in that photo, and the guy who took the photo who both recently died separately within a very short period of time (same day even, I think)? Sorry, really rusty on the details now.

Off to wikipedia... okay, scratch the above... if this is the guy you're talking about and the info is correct, he did some

(a) coke,
(b) time in military prison,
(c) bodily harm while DUI,
(d) porn

and then after all that he apparently left Canada about a decade ago.

How's that for some great Norman Rockwell imagery?

Sports can be a peculiar thing. When partaking in fiction, like a book or movie, we adopt a "Willing Suspension of Disbelief" for enjoyment's sake. There's a similar force at work in sports: "Willing Suspension of Rationality". If you doubt this, listen to any conversation between rival team fans. You even see it among fans of the same team. Fans argue over who's the better QB or goalie, and selectively cite stats that support their views while ignoring those that don't.

Who remembers it was exactly 24 years ago today, January 28, 1986, when a tragic event occurred that struck the world. The Space Shuttle Challenger exploded 73 seconds after liftoff.

And that night, President Reagan was supposed to give his State of the Union address. Instead, he gave this statement.

Yep you are going to be hitting a milestone pretty soon, especially if you recall those days of hockey. :tease:

Or how about when hockey goaltenders wore full plastic masks? That was not too long ago in the early 1980's.
While they didn't provide much protection compared to the cage masks, they were definitely very decorative.

I think the last Canuck goaltender to wear a full plastic mask was John Garrett.

Who remembers when Olympic athletes got caught for cheating? You can't tell me that the two Russians that did the cross country ski racing weren't given something "extra" to be that far ahead of the pack on the short course.....

Actually Rammer they've already caught about 30 (and many of them Russians) so purrhaps a couple got through the cracks? I know there is no way to detect growth hormone yet.

Wasn't that pre-Oly's? Also didn't the Russians send their dopers anyways?
