A few of us checked out the Lions Den last night. Here are my impressions:
Atmosphere: I liked it. It's a lounge in the corner of the casino that's open to the casino at the front. There are lots of TVs with one big projection screen where the stage is. There are booths on either side and then big long tables on the floor (good for large groups). I just don't understand how it would work if there was an evening game on a Saturday (e.g. in Alberta) when they use the stage for the bands that play in that lounge. There's a fair bit of memorabilia (jerseys on the wall, old photos). Not a huge collection, but they have it nicely decorated.
Food and Drinks: I thought the drinks were reasonably priced. Someone else can comment on the beer selection/prices. Wine by the class was $5.39 to $7.00, which is about average. The food was not that great. I had salmon which was good, but the potatoes tasted cafeteria style. Burgers and appetizers (e.g. nachos) are probably a better bet. You definitely don't go there for the food, but if you're hungry it would do.
I would try it out for a game once and see how it goes. It's a little off the beaten path for me, but central to most people who would go. It's kind of fun to be able to do something else at the same place after the game if you're like me and never want the party to end (like gamble, listen to the band, dance, etc.).
Boulevard Casino: Renovation
Moderator: Team Captains
Not a huge beer selection, but it was also reasonably priced, and they featured Granville Island products. All in all, it wouldn't be a bad place to watch the game - and one could "try" to cover their liquor tab at the slots, blackjack tables, etc.pinkfreud wrote: Food and Drinks: I thought the drinks were reasonably priced. I own The Grey Cup! .com
By the way, for the people that take Skytrain, I noticed there's a bus that goes from Braid Station to the casino.

We hope so to. A/CD/C McNews and myself will hold a table for the working stiffs. BBD wrote:Shelly and I are hoping to make this pubgater
Do you think we need to make a reservation? I guess it shouldn't be too busy at 3:30. I probably won't get there until 5:00.

It's a casino. IMHO, not many people will be there ( in the lounge ) at that time, so getting a table shouldn't be difficult.
