1982
Rookie receiver Merv Fernandez served notice that he was a star of the future, but is runner-up in the Schenley Rookie voting to Ottawa's Chris Isaac. Despite a 9-7 record, the Lions again finished in fourth out of the playoffs. At the end of the year it was decided a change was needed and the coaching staff is relieved of it's duties. The highlight of the year was Willie Fleming being inducted into the Football Hall of Fame.

Where in the city was Empire Stadium exactly? I've heard so many stories but I can't picture in my head where all of these moments actually happened.

I'd love you to say it to my face because you'd only say it once...if you ever had the courage to say it at all!! Blitz, 05/24/2008

If you look in the bottom corner of the picture you can just see a piece of the Roller Coaster. The orientation of that picture is that you are facing roughly SE looking towards the then intersection of Cassiar and Hastings St. which is in the top left corner.
Tell me how long must a fan be strong? Ans. Always.

Who would have thought that 28 years, the Lions would return to Empire Stadium.
And with the original stadium demolished in 1993, who would have thought that a new stadium would be built at that location 17 years later.

I got this image of Empire Stadium from the 1963 Beautiful British Columbia magazine. Its the 1960 Grey Cup game Ottawa vs Edmonton I have the photo on a 11x17 poster paper in its entirety. My scanner could only do a half at a time.If anyone wants one let me know. BB.ImageImage
