What will wussel lead with tonight.... fresh Lions or stale Nucks?
This is Vancouver, the only way the Lions would be 1st is if they had just made/won the playoffs, (and that would only be if the canucks wernt playing that night lol)
BC Lions - 2006 Grey Cup Champions!
USC Trojans - 2007 Rose Bowl Champions!
Team Canada - 2007 World Junior Hockey Champions!
Vancouver Giants - 2007 Memorial Cup Champions!

Given that he canucks havent been doing great lately, the win over the leafs may be a bigger deal than it even normally would be. I dont blame them if they make Canucks first during hockey season and in between football season.
What really ticks me off though is that if Bertuzzi signed with some other team the same day that the lions kicked butt in july, they would probably still lead off with Todd.

Every day that passes is one you can't get back
Squire Barnes is leading with Casey on Global. So far so good.
Well. That story lasted all of 60 seconds.

I am wagering that is longer than Squire usually lasts. 8)pinkfreud wrote:Squire Barnes is leading with Casey on Global. So far so good.

No kidding. Someone needs to put the "squeeze" on him to go longer.Rammer wrote:I am wagering that is longer than Squire usually lasts. 8)pinkfreud wrote:Squire Barnes is leading with Casey on Global. So far so good.

He'll for sure lead with the Printers story -- it's the more impact-friendly news, just as a Bertuzzi-trade-or-signing story would be in football season -- but I don't expect him to talk about it that long. But that has more to do with the fact that it wasn't a surprise than anything.
I'm sure he'll get a few calls about it.
I don't know why it's that hard to accept that hockey is the favored professional (though not played) sport in Vancouver. When Paul Kariya signed in Nashville, I'm sure it was still the tenth story behind nine Volunteers-and-Titans-related ones in the Tennessee press. This is just how a pecking order works -- it's not like hockey is afforded preferential treatment in the world at large.

It's great that this is even being considered. There have been times in recent memory I was wondering if my hometown would even have a football team let alone consider a story about that team leading Sportstalk in January!!! Hope it leads but.....

Interesting to see TSN show interview clips with CP in what looked like a TV studio in Houston.
He says he will be returning to Vancouver in a couple of weeks to formally say goodbye to the fans.

Dan Russell talking about the CFL and the Lions ? Not likely, he'll talk hockey as if he really knows anything about hockey

Russell is well into hour 2 of nothing but Printers coverage.
He just went soaring past Squire Barnes, Jay Janower and Neil McRae on the Lions media friendly list.
