I really didn’t like Byron Parker in the one season he played here in 2012. In the 2012 season the Lions were the best in the league, and were supposed to repeat as Grey Cup champs. The Lions secondary was filled with heart and soul/ hardworking players like Marsh and Banks. Couldn’t say the same for Parker however. Despite his hype when he was signed, I don’t recall him getting any interceptions that year. He seemed like a selfish, lazy player at times in the regular season as well.
Fast forward to the playoffs, and guess what happens? Parker is burned more than once by Calgary’s long ball, and the entire team wasn’t able to recover.
Byron had a great career, and I’m sure he’s a great guy personally. For that one season though I wasn’t impressed at all. I still don’t understand Wally choosing him over resigning Tad Kornegay after 2011.

Also Kevin Glenn in 2014. The so called “trade of the century” the dude was handing out interceptions like Halloween candy. Granted it wasn’t entirely his fault, I mean the entire team was terrible that year. Still though, he really underperformed in 2014, and I’m not surprised that he doesn’t have a Grey Cup ring despite being in the league for like 20 years.
Your Parker take is incredibly wrong. Safety was the weakness of the secondary that year, and it was a problem all year. And he had at least one INT TD return against Toronto called back because of a poor offsides call.

Glenn, though, I'm completely with you on. A waste of a season.

KG finished second in passing yardage for 2014 behind Ricky Ray and ahead of Henry Burris, Mike Reilly, and Bo Levi. Drew Willy was third. He commented later that BC was not a good fit.

KG was a good teammate and a class player throughout his career despite all the negativity. His teams won a lot of football games.

I can't think of any truly despicable Lions, at least not while they were playing.

Meesam got into trouble for an alleged despicable act long after he left the Lions.

Todd Marinovitch was a junkie, but Adam Rita should have known that when he signed him. Still I don't think Marinovitch did anything to hurt the Lions (who went 13-5 that year) and I don't think he set foot on the field despite dressing as the #3 QB for all 18 games.

If I was to pick the most "despicable" Lion it would be former owner, Murray Pezim. The Pez not only let Flutie get away but he bankrupted the team. Dishonourable mention to Casey Printers for the way he finally exited as a Lion, throwing a tantrum after an incompletion and berating O'Neil Wilson on the field.

I disagree about the Pez.
My recollection is that the Lions were broke and ownerless and the Premier of B.C. asked Pezim to take over the ownership and debts.

It was Pezim's wining and dining Flutie that was a factor in Flutie agreeing to come to Canada to play.

When Flutie became a FA, one could argue that Pez did the sound financial thing by not getting into a bidding war with the Stamps owner. Furthermore, it turns out that Flutie was signed to a personal services type of contract that the Stamps owner reneged on. Flutie is still owed $750,000.

My vote for the most "despicable" Lion (both players and coaches) would be Larry Kuharich

non player. clear cut for Joe Galat.

If I could remember disliking 100 players, still would not add up to my downright anger at this guy

I agree and take the word of players and coaches Kevin Glenn played with. He left Calgary not because he was no longer wanted IIRC.

Crazy that people trash him yet ignore what others who know say and they're in the CFL or were.

He'd have had that GC ring but for a hand injury leaving Ryan Dinwiddie to play that final GC game.

Hufnagel was asked if he thought Kevin Glenn was underrated. His response was to say something like 'you have to ask somebody else as' as he didn't think like that.

http://www.calgaryherald.com/sports/sta ... story.html
“Whether it goes his way or not, Kevin is a starting quarterback in our league,” he (Dickenson) pointed out. “There’s just no doubt about it. He’s proven that he wins lots of games, wins big games. So for us, yes, he has a lot more to draw on. He’s seen more looks, but Montreal just challenges you and sees if you’re better than them. So a lot of times it’s can you beat that guy across the line of scrimmage from you?”
http://www.calgaryherald.com/sports/kev ... story.html
“I’d say Kevin is the archetype of a man in this game,” CFL rushing leader Jon Cornish said. “He’s what I’d aspire to be. . . . I’d like to have his ability to deal with things and stay positive. When you have someone who can do that, that person is an inspiration. Kevin has inspired this team to play the way it has.”
“Let’s face it, this guy’s a starting quarterback,” Toronto coach Scott Milanovich said of Glenn. “It was a great move by Calgary to have him there in case something happened to Drew. And when that happened, they didn’t miss a beat.

“Our guys have a ton of respect for Kevin, as do I. I’ve been beaten by him a number of times.”
“He’s a smart player,” says offensive co-ordinator Dave Dickenson. “Just give him some parameters, give him something to look at, he’ll find it.

“He’s very accurate.”

That’s high praise indeed coming from one of the most accurate quarterbacks to ever play the game.
Milanovich sees a more dangerous Glenn, a veteran who can extend plays with his mobility and smarts.

“He gets so hot, he gets very streaky where he’ll hit 14 in a row,” the Toronto coach said.

For Calgary's second and fourth touchdowns, Parker was burned twice by Maurice Price on man to man coverage, with both plays being long bombs thrown by Glenn. That is simply inexcusable. That doesn't happen and the Lions go to the Grey Cup that year, as Calgary only won that game by 5.

Coming from the Argos in 2010 where he had 5 interceptions, Parker only managed one all season in BC. Honestly, it seemed like his heart wasn't into it at all when he was here. And yes safety was a weakness at the secondary in 2012, yet our safety Cauchy Muamba still managed to get one more pick than Parker did that year.

Five star post in my books Toppy Vann. Thank you for taking the time. I edited the quote to keep my reply short.

KG had a good shot in 2017 with Sask as well. Chris Jones pulling Glenn in the second quarter against the Argos for Brandon Bridge was a poor coaching call imo.

The prior week in Ottawa KG threw for 387 yds. That's the player I'll remember, Duron Carter 11 / 14 for 231 on his own. Makes me wonder more about Rick Campbell.

Best regards to all.
