The Ottawa REDBLACKS today announced that the football club will not be renewing the contracts of Offensive Line Coach Bryan Chiu, Defensive Backs Coach Ike Charlton, Receivers Coach Travis Moore and Linebackers Coach Derek Oswalt.

The only coach I could see coming here is Travis Moore, but only if Marcel B leaves to pursue other opportunities. Moore has a history with Buono.

Still all quiet in the Lions den.

We should be bringing in Bryan Chiu if he would move back out here. There are zero ways you can spin Dan Dorazio's job performance as a good one, or even passable one.

Our only hope is if Dan Dorazio decides to retire.

The question is why is it taking so long to announce the news we all know is coming? News should have come today. Ottawa announced theirs, why not BC?

Noel Thorpe has resurfaced as the new DC in Ottawa. Last year's DC Mark Nelson will remain with the club, I assume as a positional coach perhaps replacing one or more of the recently departed.

I thought Thorpe might resurface in B.C. Ed Hervey tried to hire him as DC in Edmonton two years ago while Thorpe was under contract in Montreal. The league refused to let Thorpe leave The Als and fined Hervey for saying tampering is widespread in the CFL.

Dayum ...

Thorpe does not talk aggressive defence, he calls it.
John Madden's Team Policies: Be on time. Pay attention. Play like hell on game day.

Jimmy Johnson's Game Keys: Protect the ball. Make plays.

Walter Payton's Advice to Kids: Play hard. Play fair. Have fun.

Unlike Mark Washington who talks aggressive defence but doesn't call it.

The Vancouver native broke into the CFL with the Alouettes in 2002 as a special teams Coordinator after spending five years with UBC Thunderbirds – helping them to a Vanier Cup in 1997.
You don't think Thorpe would have come back to Vancouver if offered a job??

Real estate in Ottawa, while not cheap, is cheaper than Vancouver and environs.

Assistant coaches should rent or lease, not buy. Not that renting in Van is any less or a strain on the wallet. But you are right. Can't remember which watering hole I was at in Ottawa but the girl serving me said she was from Vancouver. I asked her what brought her to Ottawa, school? She said nope, boyfriend. Then she went on to say how much cheaper it was to live in Ottawa how they could enjoy a normal life instead of working their tails off just to have a place to live.
