Our season is over. But I will keep on going with these CFL Games of the Week. Interest is down, for sure. But our guys will put their pride and health on the line once again.

HAM @ OTT -- Good game. Toss up. I like the way HAM is playing under June Jones.

MTL @ SSK -- Gotta be SSK. No wins for Kavis.

BC @ WPG -- Gotta think WPG wins this one, but ya never know.

CGY @ EDM -- Hmmm. Is CGY suddenly vulnerable? I don't like either team.

Calgary has to be #1, but showing vulnerability, especially if they lose to Edmonton. Not out of the realm of possibility IMO.

Winnipeg. Gotta be #2. O'Shea. LaPolice. Hall. Well coached.

Saskatchewan. That beat down of Calgary spoke volumes IMO. Jones has no fear.

Edmonton. Maas still has temper tantrums.

Toronto. Trestman. Ray. 'Nuff said.

Ottawa. Getting by without Burris, without Williams, without Jackson. Getting better also.

Hamilton. Rejuvenated and playing very well under June Jones.

B.C. Could we beat Montreal at this point? Probably. We have way more talent, IMO. And no quit.

Montreal. Kavis is GM and Head Coach. 'Nuff said.

Add one win to Hamilton. Add one loss to Montreal.

The ST coach has to take it. CFL assistants seem like wage slaves. Underpaid. No job security. I am sure the coach is just wishing he could tell Maas off, and walk away from the job.

Jason Maas seems like an a****le as a boss. Abusive.

Screaming. That'll help. Not.

If ever there was a person in need of therapy sessions, it's Jason Maas. Everyone gets angry. It's natural. We all lose our cool at some point, either rationally or irrationally. But I haven't personally witnessed many public personalities completely melt down and throw temper tantrums with the ferocity and frequency of Jason Maas. You want to scream in the face of your coordinator over a 2-pt safety (which, if you think about it, was probably the best course of action with the amount of time still on the clock)? Really??

I read a while back that Maas's father was a police officer in Oregon and was shot in the killed in the line of duty when he was a young man. There are clearly some unresolved issues here. Is it causal? Perhaps. Or maybe he's just naturally hot-headed. But he probably isn't fit for long term head coaching duties the way he's currently wired. IMHO.

Maas had meltdowns as a player so his action doesn't surprise me a bit. If you're going to yell at someone do it in private. What a humiliation.

Ever since Maas' head set smashing temper tantrum, the sideline TSN camera zooms in on him whenever there is some critical decision happening with the Esks. They have not been disappointed.

Playoffs ...
West Division Scenarios

•Winnipeg win OR Edmonton loss = Winnipeg clinches second place in the West and will host the Western Semi-Final on November 12

•Edmonton win + Saskatchewan loss = Saskatchewan will crossover to the East Division and play either Toronto or Ottawa in the Eastern Semi-Final

East Division Scenarios

•Ottawa loss OR tie = Toronto clinches first place in the East and will host the Eastern Final on November 19

HAMILTON (5-11) at OTTAWA (7-9-1), Friday, 7 p.m.

Ottawa will have to go without star receiver Brad Sinopoli, who is out for the season with a shoulder injury. He's been the team's leader in receptions with 91. Yes, he didn't play last week either in a win over the Riders, but Ottawa had only 332 yards of offense that game, well below their average. Ottawa has pulled off two straight wins with late comebacks. That's a pattern that can't continue. A Redblacks loss would clinch the division for Toronto. The series is tied 1-1.

MORE: Banks, Masoli lead Tiger-Cats to 43-16 win

Pick: Hamilton by 3

Previous meeting: Hamilton 26-22, Sept. 9

Notable stat: Hamilton QB Jeremiah Masoli is on a roll with three straight games of putting up 300-plus passing yards.
MONTREAL (3-13) at SASKATCHEWAN (9-7), Friday, 9:30 p.m.

This will be a homecoming for Montreal quarterback Darian Durant, who was a member of the Roughriders for 11 seasons and directed the Riders to a Grey Cup in 2013. But it's unlikely going to be one he'll want to remember. The Riders will be riding a wave of confidence after upsetting the Calgary Stampeders with Duron Carter playing defense and picking off Bo Levi Mitchell for a TD. Montreal might give rookie QB Matthew Shiltz another look as they make evaluations for next season.

Pick: Saskatchewan by 7

Previous meeting: Montreal 17-16 on June 22.

Notable stat: Saskatchewan's defense did not allow one touchdown against Calgary last week.
B.C. (6-10) at WINNIPEG (11-5), Saturday, 4 p.m.

The Bombers are competing with Edmonton for the right to clinch second place in the West and host the West Division semifinal. The Bombers have control of their destiny. A victory over the inept Lions would clinch second for Winnipeg. They could also clinch if the Eskimos lose to the Stampeders later that day. The series is tied 1-1.

Pick: Winnipeg by 7

Previous meeting: Winnipeg 26-20 on Oct. 14.

Notable stat: Winnipeg QB Matt Nichols has thrown only one interception in his past six games.
CALGARY (13-2-1) at EDMONTON (10-6), Saturday, 7 p.m.

This is the most interesting matchup of the week. Calgary is coming off a loss to Saskatchewan, and Edmonton is rolling along with three straight victories. Calgary has already clinched the West Division, so there is little incentive here, except to emerge healthy. Edmonton still is eyeing second place. I think the Eskimos continue their momentum and knock off Calgary. The Stampeders are 2-0 in the season series.

Pick: Edmonton by 3

Previous meeting: Calgary 25-22 on Sept. 9

Notable stat: Calgary QB Bo Levi Mitchell has not had a 300-yard passing game since Aug. 26.

HAM at OTT

Post-season elimination has not hindered the spirit of the Ticats, who continued their late-season surge in a 43-16 win over Montreal. With five wins dating back to Labour Day, June Jones and Jeremiah Masoli have this team competing like a Grey Cup contender.

While it’s too little too late for the Tabbies, Ottawa is seeking capital gains this week in a bid to win the East. Expect Trevor Harris to be dialed in: In his last two games, the second-year REDBLACK has rolled up 642 passing yards, generating 63 points and 804 yards of offence for his team.

Competing like a Grey Cup contender. Yes. Jones has brought out a very high level of performance from Masoli.

MTL at SSK

The Alouettes haven’t won in two and a half months, and things don’t appear to be getting better. In a 43-16 home loss to Hamilton last week, the Als compiled only 272 net yards and turned the ball over four times. Meanwhile, the Riders are coming off their defining game of 2017 (so far), handing the Stamps their first loss at McMahon in two years.

It feels like centuries ago that a defiant Darian Durant stared down Chris Jones and the Riders’ bench after defeating his former team back in June. Still, Durant’s return to Regina will be no less sentimental as the former Rider visits new Mosaic Stadium for the first time ever.

BC at WPG

The Lions and Bombers are accustomed to putting up points, but the last time they met was a defensive struggle with the Bombers failing to score an offensive touchdown. How Winnipeg manages the loss of Darvin Adams is worth monitoring, with the offence generating only 515 net yards the last two games.

From Wally Buono’s perspective, the next two weeks will be about evaluating his younger talent — including young quarterback Jonathon Jennings. Jennings needs a strong finish to help ease what’s been a difficult second season as the Leos’ face of the franchise.

CGY at EDM

A possible playoff preview unfolds at Commonwealth Stadium, although the matchup is already familiar as Alberta rivals exchange ‘pleasantries’, we’ll call it, for the third time in eight weeks.

The Esks have exchanged massive winning and losing streaks this year, and the good news for them is the CFL’s streakiest team is currently on a three-game winning streak. There’s bad news, too, however: The Stampeders are coming off a loss, and they haven’t lost two regular season games in a row since July 12, 2012.

PICK
Writers: 86% Edmonton
Fans: 62% Calgary
Beat each other up. Yeah, that is the ticket.

Jason Maas is kind of whacko. Tantrums. The worst was seeing him berating his ST coach in front of the world, and in front of the team.

Dickie? Yes, he can coach. But he is also working in Hufnagel's world. Hufnagel seemed to draw very little attention to himself as a coach. All he did was win and win and win. It's kind of incongruous to see the pained, worried look on Dickenson's face on the sideline as they lap the field.

Jason Maas has overtaken Kavis Reed as the most animated head coach. It seems like Maas could go off at any time against anyone or anything. Reed was the same way when he was in Edmonton but he seems resigned to his team's suffering in Montreal. When something goes wrong, he just seems to sigh and shake his head. I'm sure he'll be happy to leave the sidelines at the end of the year and put someone else in the spotlight.
