Had hope for some offensive and defensive linemen. Guess the problem with the Lions is the receiving corp :juggle:

If it wasn't so deflating, the reactions of posters here would almost be comical. Why is it that what seems to be glaringly obvious to most around here seems to be virtually ignored by the Lions brain trust.
Tell me how long must a fan be strong? Ans. Always.

these guys are only coming in for tryouts ... then they will be offered next year Training camp spots if they show well ... these guys will not even see the field unless we have massive injuries; no airlifts anymore the league is too good.

Bingo! We have a winner. Exactly right. One of the receivers might get a crack at playing time if injuries hit because there were no receivers on the depth chart outside of the 46 other than utility type Tyler Davis. Lions have Shirley, Hudson and Maddy on the PR. They would draw in before anybody brought in now. Typically players brought in under the expanded PR are done so more as auditions for next year's training camp than to provide upgrades this year. 3 of these new players are 22 year old raw rookies. With only 5 weeks of practice left it would be high expectations for them to pick up enough of the nuances of the new to them game of 3 down football to be able to make an impact. Probably down to the final 1 or 2 games before any might be ready for action.

Mathis looks intriguing based on this article:

However this scouting report was much less complimentary:

You're as old as you've ever been and as young as you're ever going to be.

Keavon Milton looks like an interesting prospect as a tackle. At 27, he has likely exhausted his NFL opportunities after spending time with the Browns, Seahawks, Cowboys, Patriots and Steelers. He was a late cut in Pittsburgh after spending much of last season on their practice roster. Here's more from Steve Ewen:

I would think a DT would get a shot, given the Lions lack of a push, but sadly not one large body DL was brought in. I just don't understand why Wally hasn't gone after a legit DT since Mitchell.
