Ottawa could do the Lions a big favour tonight. The Redblacks are dominating Saskatchewan, leading 17-0 in the third quarter.

It wasn't to be for Ottawa. Saskatchewan turned the game around with a 97-yard punt return TD and capitalized on an Ottawa fumble in scoring position to pull out a come-from-behind 18-17 victory.

Typical CFL game; it isn't over til it's over.

Stampeders showing once again why they're the CFL's top team. Demolishing Montreal Alouettes 41-11 in the 3rd quarter.

Now 56-11 with 9 minutes remaining. Time to fatten up those individual statistics.

Ottawa could have done us a big service but like they have done all year, they faltered late in the game. The prospects for the Lions don't look particularly good. 4 points out of a playoff spot. The Esks are beginning to look like the team to catch if they continue to struggle. Today we hope Winnipeg will do us a favour.

It was too much to expect Lindley to get it done . After their last scoring drive, he reverted to his expected 3rd stringer form. The decision to go for the (failed) 2pt conversion ended up costing them the game. Of course, up 17-0 it's hard to predict you will fold up and let SSK have the rest of the scoring. That's probably why they went for it.

With the Lions luck, both Harris and Tate will be back for next Saturday.

William Powell at the half felt that they simply needed to keep the ball - translation - do what they did in the first half. Worst interpretation is that it might have had a touch of a of tone of complacency to think they didn't need to be turn it up.

Apparently Lindley saw few reps in practice.

It seems that BC is the only team to have reps for all QBs - not that Alex Ross has much chance to show them. In fact when he's played his play caller gives him a run play that the opponent knows is coming and puts him in in second and long.

The Lions back in the days when Pierce was #3 QB didn't do that with him but then they had a FT QB coach to keep the QBs fully engaged. Now I see it's up to Lulay to keep the QBs engaged and he does a good job from what I saw at two practices.

Bombers leading the Eskimos 8-0 in the 3rd quarter. After a torrid start, Edmonton has fallen back to earth.

Edmonton loses 28-19 to Winnipeg, their 6th consecutive defeat after opening the season with 7 straight wins.

Is it just me or are the Bombers the best team to watch right now. I don't say that lightly either as I still hold a strong dislike from the 80's Cal Murphy era to the present.

I love the ferocious D and if they had a n upgrade on QB they would be on par with the Stamps. That said their games for the most part have been very gritty and fun to watch. A good result for the Lions as the Esks lose once again. A desperate glimmer of hope still to get a playoff berth remains with the Esks loss. However the Esks have the free space on the bingo card with the Als up next.

So Lions 2 full games out of final playoff spot. That Ottawa collapse Friday really hurt. Esks in freefall but their turn for automatic win against Montreal next week then home to Argos.

Lions may very well have to go 5-0 to sneak in meaning taking both games in Winnipeg. Yikes. Playoff streak in serious jeopardy but 2-5 divisional record and losing at home to Hamilton will do that.
Wally also probably wrong saying they ran out of mulligans after loss in Ottawa given Riders, Bombers and Eskimos all won there.

At a minimum, the Lions have to beat the Eskimos at B.C. Place on Oct. 21 and get one more win than the Esks in the other four remaining games. Neither team has an easy schedule. The Lions play Winnipeg twice. Edmonton finishes at home to Calgary and on the road in Saskatchewan.
