Key drive #1. 3 man rush. No one in the flats to cover Watson out of the backfield. 25 yard gain.

It is clear that we need a dominant pass rusher. Defensive line simply isn't good enough.

Yeah, I think he can dunk a basketball. LOL ... Loads of hugely athletic receivers throughout the league.

No kickers left. Go for 2. A little look-in pass. Done. 3 score lead now, 17 points.

Lulay to Rainey.

Lulay to Burnham.

Lulay runs for a TD. 37 - 26 Schmos.

We seemed to have some makin's in the game, some good stuff, lots of good stuff. What the heck was the difference?

Not enough pressure on Reilly.

Not enough protection for Lulay.

Poor STs.

Breakdowns in pass coverage, including two long bombs.

Soft spots in the zone pass coverage.

Both teams played hard.

Not sure our INTs in the D Line are good enough.

I think we got out-coached with some game preparation.

Just IMO ...

Tell me that wasn't a lateral pass. Two challenges on PI calls by each club, both call center calls go the Esks way. You can't have those critical moment calls go against you and expect to win when you can't protect Lulay long enough for him to find the seam on the football, or allow Reilly enough time to stitch a football and then throw it to an underneath wide open 5 yard catch that has 10 yards of real estate to move-in, or give a Lion DB time to look if Reilly really is stitchng that football while the receiver runs past them.

As tough as those calls were by the command centre, the Lions will continue to lose games if their trench play doesn't find another level against the top CFL teams.

Rainey is an elite player just special to watch,. Burnham is a special receiver, and Arceneaux has the entire package on any given night. But it doesn't help much if the QB can't count to three dingy's to let a route develop.

Lions didn't deserve to be close at the half, and the final score flattered them. At this juncture a home playoff date has basically slipped through the Lions grasp. Can't see either of the Esks or Stamps, falling back to the Lions level, so that eliminates a home playoff game for Lion fans.

Esks colour man Dave Canpbell tells us all we need to know here.
Eskimos with 3 sacks and 11 QBP's, pressured Lulay at a rate of 57%. Lions with 1 sack and 4 QBP's, Reilly pressured only 15% of the time.
Farhan was saying post game he thinks it maybe time to pull the plug on Focault before another QB gets injured and go back to two Americans on line and shift Steward back to guard.

Where have I seen this movie before?

Lions own the east (and the Riders). On par with Bombers resulting in wild close games and seemingly light years behind the two Alberta teams at least at the line of scrimmage.

Some of us wondered about our personnel on the D Line. Any All-Stars there? Over the years that is one area where we were loaded with All-Stars. Not so much these days. I like our NATs. No criticism there. But we need our INTs to be dominant IMO.
Eskimos are better than the Lions on both sides of the line, personnel wise, especially on the D Line. And no matter how good your teams, skill position players and special teams are, that disadvantage will beat you 7 to 8 times out of ten.

That said, we're a fine team, good enough to win the East, but we are what our record says we are at this point.

You can wear certain teams down with a mass of depth and a dearth of talent. We did it to Toronto and Montreal. That doesn't work against Edmonton or Calgyra, however.
