The Riders did such a good job of keeping their O under wraps in the first half that I feared that Mark Washington would have no real game film to game plan against for when Lions play Riders Aug. 5. :tease:

At least the Riders made a game of it in the second half, but there really was no chance that the Stamps were going to loose 2 games in a row, especially to opposition as weak as the Riders.

Argos leading Redblacks 12-9 at the half. Ottawa playing on a short week while Toronto is well rested. (had the bye week)

Lead was shortlived as Ricky Ray drove the Argos down the field and won it on a last second field goal. 27-24

It is still early in the season but early indications seem to be that Trestman is doing to Ray's career what he did to Calvillo. That is, revitalize and extend the career of a veteran QB who formerly was looking like the count down to the end of the career had begun. We shall see.

As a CFL fan I am not worried about Ottawa. They just won the Grey Cup. The organization seems very solid. The losses they are taking show the balance of the league.

Credit to Marc Trestman. As Dano notes, he seems to have revitalized Ricky Ray. And the CFL is a lot healthier if the Argos franchise is healthy and competitive.

15,801 is the best crowd of the season so far at BMO. Week 1 vs HAM was 13,583, week 2 vs BC 11,219. There was some speculation on 1040 that a Monday night might actually help. One thing I noticed was the number of fans still coming in as the anthem was being performed by Pinball's wife (which was a kind of annoying R&B version where she changed quite a few lyrics). She did it in the deliberate tempo changing style that is common in NFL performances of their anthem.

Trevor Harris has a league-high 4 fumbles and Ottawa has a league-high 6 fumbles lost. If Harris protected the ball better, Ottawa could be 4-1-1 instead of 1-4-1.
