I think the Lions were quite pleased with last year's home schedule given it was quite backloaded. Hoping for a little more balance in 2017. There were two stretches (July 7-Aug 13 and Sept. 9 to Oct. 1) that were too long without a home game. No fan of back-to-back at home either as it always seems to hurt the gate for the 2nd game but know there will always be at least one or two every season.

Be slightly earlier than usual. It's usually out about a week after the initial free agency frenzy subsides.

The CFL schedule is out:

http://www.cfl.ca/schedule/

Lions' schedule:

http://www.bclions.com/schedule/

Home schedule:
Friday, June 16 vs. Saskatchewan (preseason)
Saturday, June 24 vs. Edmonton
Friday, July 21 vs. Winnipeg
Saturday, Aug. 5 vs. Saskatchewan
Friday, Aug. 18 vs. Calgary
Friday, Sept. 8 vs. Montreal
Friday, Sept. 22 vs. Hamilton
Saturday, Oct. 7 vs. Ottawa
Saturday, Oct. 22 vs. Edmonton
Saturday, Nov. 4 vs Toronto

Initial thoughts:
5 Fridays and 5 Saturdays
5 home games after Labour Day
Games against division rivals are front-loaded in the summer schedule :cr:
1 Friday game starts at 7:30 p.m. and 1 at 8 p.m., which should benefit commuters
Only regular season home game against Saskatchewan is on the Saturday of the B.C. Day weekend :cr:
Final home game on Nov. 4 is a potentially meaningless inter-divisional battele against the Argos :thdn:

Not a bad schedule, It looks pretty front loaded with tough divisional games.
The BC day game against Saskatchewan may lead to a larger crowd than normal.
At least we don't have thre straight weeks without a home game like we did last year.

Pretty solid home schedule. Better than last year when Lions only home games against a Western opponent was twice against Calgary until October. That was weird.

Other than a meaningless pre-season game no back-to-back home games which is a huge plus. Or Thursdays as well.

Don't like Friday night games after Labour Day but understand Lions have to host their share for TSN. Traffic is never fun though.

Better hope the Riders get off to a decent start as their only trip out here in the middle of a long summer weekend could be a black hole with so many people out of town. Game would have been better on the Sunday afternoon or even the holiday Monday.

Did you miss the part where they open at home on June 24th then go on the road back east for 3 games before coming back home on July 21st?

If they are going to a have a long road trip, then best to have it early in the season and get the team bonding/chemistry happening in early season.

Playing the Riders twice before Labour Day could be an edge for the Lions as I suspect that Jones will continue roster and especially QB juggling early in the season and won't have a the team solidified and playing decent until late in the year, just like last season.

Agree with the road trip.

also i saw on twitter that the lions have the most off days in the league ... largely 6-7 day breaks

Listened to Wally's interview on Bro/Pratt show. Interestingly, he said that George Chayka was largely instrumental for the favourable schedule, working with the league, BC Place, and the Whitecaps (does this mean he is the de facto interim President with Dennis Skulsky mostly in retirement mode? I still find the Lions org chart blurred and confusing when it comes to responsibilities).

Wally gave a special shout out to his paisano Bobby Lenarduzzi of the Whitecaps for being so accommodating, given that both organizations prefer Saturday games.
