As tweeted by LU and confirmed on bclions.com, the Lions released DB Chris Rwabukamba Monday.

Not hard to rate #BCLions '15 off-season f/a class now. Only recruit, Chris Rwabukamba, has been released, inevitable with Mike Edem signing
I thought Eric Fraser was a better fit at safety than Rwabukamba but the latter played well at corner when thrust into action in difficult circumstances due to injury. The free-agent signing of former Alouette and Ticat Mike Edem made Rwabukamba expendable as a safety but his release signals that that Lions have no intention of playing a Canadian at field corner for the departed international Steven Clarke.

New DB Purifoy comes with some legal baggage but seems to have some physical talent. Lockett is a speedster with good hands.

Purifoy was a potential first rounder out of Florida according to a number of articles I have read but a drugs related offense and another drugs related incident seems to have scuppered all that. He did seem to impress the Colts with his special teams play in kick coverage but was punted after some "incidents not of a criminal nature". He then failed a physical with the Seahawks. He also was suspended for 10 games in 2015 for multiple violations of the NFL substance abuse policy.

A potential tale of redemption? Or regret?

Edem & Fraser at safety = no need for Rwabukamba I guess - who although is a vet who can play corner too, has never played that well in the CFL IMO and probably makes more than league minimum.

There was some talk of playing a NI at corner? Can't see it - Wally will be a 7 only NIs needed guy, and if it's just 2 on defence - safety and one D-line spot (Menard is very good at DE IMO, or Westerman), and maybe Lokombo starts at linebacker ?
