I'm posting my annual Twas the Night Before Xmas a bit early this year, to provide some time for busy Lionbackers to have the time to wish their fellow die hard Leo fans a Merry Xmas.

‘Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a Lionbacker was stirring, not even a mouse;
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St. Wally would soon would be there

All Lionbackers were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of 2016 danced in their heads;
West Coast Joe in his kerchief and Thelionking in his cap,
Had just laid down their heads for a long winter's nap

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
DanoT sprang from his bed to see what was the matter
Away to the window he flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash

The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below,
When, what to Johnny Musso’s wondering eyes should appear,
But an orange Leos sleigh missing some bodies from last year

Why gone from last season were George and old Chuck
They’d retired, thinking they’d just had no luck
Andrew Harris was AWOL and Jeff Tedford was missing
Neither had done the proper Wally ass kissing

With a conniving old driver, I knew it was St. Wally
But would his return to the sidelines become his latest folly?
More rapid than eagles his underlings they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name

Now Mark, now Khari, now Johnny, now Robin Ross
Realize Tedford is gone and he’s no great loss
The players they ‘love me’, always want to buy me a beer
So it doesn’t matter who will coach our offence next year

As dry leaves before the wild hurricane fly
Wally promised Leo fans better and he’d never lie
After all, he’s a living ‘legend’, said so himself
Why should the greatest coach ever sit on the shelf?

There is a thin line between failure and fame
But St. Wally was determined to risk it again
The timing was right, a new quarterback ensured against loss
2016 was the season for Wally to put himself back on the cross

Then, in a twinkling, Hambone watched the sleigh approach
He heard the grovelling and pawing of each assistant coach
And as B.C. Fan drew in his hand, and was turning around,
Down the chimney St. Wally came with a bound

He was dressed all in orange fur, from his head to his foot,
His GM reputation was tarnished with ashes and soot;
A bundle of video game tapes he had flung on his back,
And he looked like a peddler just opening his pack

His eyes how they danced as he pulled out a lump of coal
And his chest was inflated, he was now back in total control
The droll mouth was drawn up like a bow, as he looked down below
And the hair on his head was as white as the snow;

He was old and paunchy, and not a very jolly old elf
But very determined to stay in power, with a strong sense of self
And regardless of the wink of his eye and the twist of his head,
When the pressure in on, it’s always others that need dread

But there is a place to visit, where Leo fans are both loyal and bold
Lionbackers is a great place to share thoughts, while getting out of the cold
It’s a website where insight is shared and wise posters appear
And where there is always hope at this time each year

St. Wally spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And filled all the stockings with coal and then turned with a jerk,
And laying his finger aside of his strong Italian nose,
His head gave a nod and then up the chimney he rose.

He sprang to his sleigh, to his employees he gave a whistle,
And away they flew, their underwear loaded with thistles.
And as Wally stood in his sleigh and drove out of sight,
The time had arrived to say….
Happy Xmas to all Lionbackers and to all a Good Night

Wishing all Lionbacker the very best holiday season. Thank you to "D" for hosting the best football website ever, to WCJ and all fellow team captains for all your efforts, and to all posters for your contributions, thoughts, and insights.

Merry Xmas!!

Merry Christmas, Blitz, and to all Lionbackers who make this site the most complete source of Lions news and information. The next best thing to watching football is talking about it, and we can do that here 365 days a year. I hope we can all find something to be optimistic about at this time of year after a tough 2015 season. There is always hope for next year.

Merry Christmas, Blitz.

And to all Lionbackers, everywhere.

Wally is back in the driver's seat, which to some it seems he never really left. Full circle. Back to the Future. As Yogi Berra famously said: Deja vu all over again.

Be of good cheer. Ho Ho Ho

All I want for Christmas is ... Is Santa wearing #33?

Good job Blitz. A fun summation of some of the Lions follies of 2015. :rockin:
