Missed this Brian Williams story (we need more from him on the CFL btw) where Perrett nad his wife Maren speak openly and extremely candidly on what most of us would view as entirely personal, private matters.
As Williams says this is a tough story to go public on. I hope this helps others struggling too as too often we hear of only bad athlete stories in the news.

Checked and I see he spoke to the Gazette's Herb Z on this back in late June:

Wow, almost a classic stereotype story. Kid from a somewhat sheltered background, little experience of the wider world, then goes off to college where he is exposed to a lot of stuff, gets on the wrong track and it comes very close to destroying himself, his family and career. Good on him for having the resolve and strength to step back from the brink and take control of his life again. Hopefully he can be an example to others in the world of sports who have the same struggles.
Tell me how long must a fan be strong? Ans. Always.
