TORONTO -- The standings are tight and every team seems to be on a level playing field. With no clear powerhouses or slouches, where do the teams fall in the pecking order? Here are this week's Nissan Titan Power Rankings.

Calgary Stampeders
Week 4 Ranking: 1 (Last Week: 1)
It hasn't always been pretty but Calgary won't complain that it is the only 3-1 team in the standings. Jon Cornish finally had his first 100-plus yard rushing game as the Stampeders knocked off another quality opponent in Winnipeg.

Toronto Argonauts
Week 4 Ranking: 2 (Last Week: 3)
The Argonauts actually move up a slot after their bye but their game against the Lions this week should be a real test to see just where the team lies. The Double Blue will need to pull out another win if they want to keep their high ranking.

Montreal Alouettes
Week 4 Ranking: 3 (Last Week: 7)
Montreal has looked solid throughout the season thus far, grabbing a pair of wins against top opponents in the Ticats and Stamps. Rakeem Cato appears to be the real deal and the team's defence has allowed the fewest points per game. The Als appear well-rounded enough to contend in the East.

Winnipeg Blue Bombers
Week 4 Ranking: 4 (Last Week: 4)
The Blue Bombers aren't there yet but they keep showing that they can go punch-for-punch with some of the league's top clubs. They could be sitting alone atop the West were it not for a series of missed kicks against Calgary. Drew Willy continues to guide an offence that has played well and threw everything at the defending champs.

Hamilton Tiger-Cats
Week 4 Ranking: 5 (Last Week: 2)
The Ticats are still bouncing up and down the rankings after a Week 4 loss to the Alouettes. Granted, the team is banged up on both sides of the ball but the Ticats' depth has been tested. Help may be on the way as some of their injured veterans begin to return in the next few weeks.

BC Lions
Week 4 Ranking: 6 (Last Week: 8)
The Lions are back in the thick of it after two consecutive wins over the Roughriders. Travis Lulay rushed for over 100 yards and appears to be fully healthy while Andrew Harris is rounding into his old form as well. How will they perform against stiffer competition? Only time will tell.

Edmonton Eskimos
Week 4 Ranking: 7 (Last Week: 5)
Despite winning a pair of games, the Eskimos actually drop two spots in the rankings, primarily because of the play of those around them. Matt Nichols continues to try and string multiple impressive performances together but his team's defence has proved that he doesn't need to be purrfect in their wins. Shakir Bell rushed for 144 yards in his debut and could be an important piece going forward.

Ottawa REDBLACKS
Week 4 Ranking: 8 (Last Week: 6)
Could it be that the REDBLACKS are falling back down to earth after their hot start? Henry Burris and the offence are still working out early-season kinks and the running game is also looking to gain traction.

Saskatchewan Roughriders
Week 4 Ranking: 9 (Last Week: 9)
The Roughriders are still trying to piece it all together. Much has been talked about on the defensive side of the ball but on the other side, their offence is leading the league in a number of categories. Stuck at the bottom now but as we know a few wins strung together and the makeup of the West Division changes.

Scott Cullen of TSN has the Lions ranked second this week, Malcolm Kelly of CBC has them third and Kirk Penton of the Winnipeg Sun has them fifth. With the exception of TSN, most rankings have the Argos ahead of the Lions. This week's game will be a big test of whether the Lions are for real, especially after the B.C. defence was shredded by the Argos at B.C. Place last year.

TORONTO -- Brandon Whitaker and the Toronto Argonauts fought back from a 21-point deficit. That, combined with their East-leading 3-1 record, puts them atop the Nissan Titan Power Rankings.

Toronto Argonauts
Week 5 Ranking: 1 (Last Week: 2)
The road warriors known as the Toronto Argonauts continue to win on the road and in dramatic fashion. For the first time since 2001-2002, the Argos put together their second straight win at BC Place, a stadium that has haunted most East Division opponents. Trevor Harris continues to work his way out of holes and take control of his club when it matters most. Sitting atop the East, the Boatmen can really create some distance with a big game coming up with the Ticats this weekend.

Calgary Stampeders
Week 5 Ranking: 2 (Last Week: 1)
People have been asking about the play of Bo Levi Mitchell but the Stamps continued to grind out wins. A loss this week in Ottawa in overtime took them out of the top spot on the rankings and now we learn that Jon Cornish will be out some time with a broken thumb. Once again the depth will be tested on a very veteran club.

Montreal Alouettes
Week 5 Ranking: 3 (Last Week: 3)
Montreal comes off a bye week, staying pat at #3 after a character-building win over the Tiger-Cats. Up next for the Larks is their lone visit to McMahon to take on a Stampeders team that will be looking for a bounce back performance after letting one slip away in Ottawa.

Edmonton Eskimos
Week 5 Ranking: 4 (Last Week: 7)
The Eskimos keep finding a way to win. Once counted out after losing starting QB Mike Reilly, the Esks now sit atop the West Division with a 3-1 record. The defence has been lights out since their Week 1 loss to Toronto. The question, however, remains under centre. James Franklin looked good in short order in Week 5 but is he the answer at QB? We will find out this week when the Esks host the Riders.

Hamilton Tiger-Cats
Week 5 Ranking: 5 (Last Week: 5)
The Ticats leave their four-game road trip to start the season with a split but keeping them from climbing the rankings is the fact that both their wins have come against teams that played crunch time without their starting quarterback. Hamilton will have a chance to really make some noise this week if they can slow down arguably the league's hottest quarterback in Toronto's Trevor Harris.

BC Lions
Week 5 Ranking: 6 (Last Week: 6)
The Lions were clawing their way to the top. After jumping out to a 21-0 lead it looked like they would continue to rise. They ended up running into a stout Argos defence that kept them out of the end zone in the second half but Travis Lulay's play continues to show that the Lions have a chance to go toe-to-toe with any team. BC will be a force once the kinks are worked out under new head coach Jeff Tedford.

Ottawa REDBLACKS
Week 5 Ranking: 7 (Last Week: 8)
Almost as significant as their 2-0 start was the REDBLACKS bounce-back win over the Calgary Stampeders on Friday. Stellar second half performances from Henry Burris and Chris Williams, along with a determined defensive effort allowed the REDBLACKS to grind out a huge overtime win over the defending champs before heading into a bye week.

Winnipeg Blue Bombers
Week 5 Ranking: 8 (Last Week: 4)
It looks as though as far as Drew Willy goes, so do the Bombers. The uncertainty at quarterback drops them this week but as they have shown all year, one big win and they are right back in the thick of it. A lot will rest on extent of Willy's injury and how it responds when he returns.

Saskatchewan Roughriders
Week 5 Ranking: 9 (Last Week: 9)
The Roughriders' short week can't come soon enough. Similar to Winnipeg, questions remain around the health of their quarterback Kevin Glenn. Already without Darian Durant, Glenn's status is critical to the success of this club unless their is a young pivot ready to blossom or a trade is in the works. That said, it is still too early to count out the feisty Riders... remember BC in 2011?

The CFL this season is proving there are no invincible teams at the top.

The bottom is also quite interesting as how can a team compile so many offensive yards/pts and keep losing?

Reading Riders forum is interesting as they say Chamblin is stubborn and won't let go of DEF play calling even if he had a DC forced on him - that is precisely how HCs get fired. The OC and DC positions were created for coaches to be able one or more of them and save his own job. Any HC calling his own plays or filling the DC as he is doing is a fool. Mike Benevides was that arrogant and he too wanted to retain DC and like Matt Dunigan - too many jobs and roles - you lose.

I'm surprised that Willy is the Bombers only QB who can play and that after all these years still can't get it right - yet with the right coaching there are guys out there you can surprise you.

TORONTO -- After winning their fourth game in a row and with the best record in the league, the Edmonton Eskimos find themselves at the top of the Nissan Titan Power Rankings.

Edmonton Eskimos
Week 6 Ranking: 1 (Last Week: 4)
The Eskimos find themselves in the number one spot after four convincing wins despite some questions at quarterback. Fueled by a dominant defence that is allowing the fewest yards per game, Edmonton has now won four games in a row and sits alone atop the CFL standings.

Calgary Stampeders
Week 6 Ranking: 2 (Last Week: 2)
The Stampeders simply find a way to get it done. Calgary rallied from a 17-0 first quarter deficit to top the Alouettes and limited them to just two points in the second half. The banged up offensive line allowed only two sacks in Week 6 which let Bo Levi Mitchell throw for over 300 yards. He hasn't been picked off in three weeks.

Hamilton Tiger-Cats
Week 6 Ranking: 3 (Last Week: 5)
Knocking off the top team in the Nissan Titan Power Rankings is good enough reason to move up on the list. The Ticats jumped out to an early lead against the rival Argos and never looked back to remain undefeated at Tim Hortons Field. However, the team lost CJ Gable just as soon as he returned to the team but gained Luke Tasker, who had 73 receiving yards in the win.

Toronto Argonauts
Week 6 Ranking: 4 (Last Week: 1)
The Argonauts fall three spots after losing to the Ticats. While Toronto still remains in the upper-middle group of the standings, it may take a few more wins for the Argos to seperate themselves from the pack. Trevor Harris remains solid under centre and used nine different receivers on Monday night, a testament to his ability find his men downfield.

Montreal Alouettes
Week 6 Ranking: 5 (Last Week: 3)
Montreal blew a 17-0 first quarter lead and suddenly finds itself at the bottom of the East Divison. The Alouettes still look to be one of the better teams in the league but have yet to string together a few great games in a row.

Winnipeg Blue Bombers
Week 6 Ranking: 6 (Last Week: 8)
Drew Willy proved just how crucial he is to the Bombers' success after throwing for a pair of touchdown passes and adding 72 yards on the ground. Winnipeg's defence has also been keeping the team in games but needs to improve in stopping the run. Darvin Adams has emerged as a weapon for the Bombers and his 56-yard score against the Lions helped prove that.

Ottawa REDBLACKS
Week 6 Ranking: 7 (Last Week: 7)
The REDBLACKS' ranking remains unchanged following the team's bye week. Ottawa has had an up and down season thus far but did pull off a momentum-building overtime victory over Calgary in Week 5. The team hosts the Alouettes in Week 7.

BC Lions
Week 6 Ranking: 8 (Last Week: 6)
There have been a few bright spots for the Lions this season including the healthy returns of Travis Lulay and Andrew Harris. However, the team's defence has regressed and allowed the most yards per game while Lulay has been inconsistent so far.

Saskatchewan Roughriders
Week 6 Ranking: 9 (Last Week: 9)
Saskatchewan only managed five points against a tough Eskimos defence while relying on its third-string quarterback. There has been a lack of stability at pivot because of injury and this latest loss featured only 50 rushing yards, which is normally a highlight of the team's offensive attack. The Roughriders are running out of time to turn it around.

With Ham's 38-8 shellacking of Wpg closing out Week 7, five teams, including Edm who are coming off a road loss to us, now share the league's best record at 4-2, with BC next at 3-3. Wpg will almost surely drop below us based even just on their lacklustre effort today; the question is how high we climb. I see no new entries in the top four, only internal reshuffling, with BC and Ott climbing, Mtl and Wpg dropping and Ssk remaining in its by now familiar #9 basement spot.
Sports can be a peculiar thing. When partaking in fiction, like a book or movie, we adopt a "Willing Suspension of Disbelief" for enjoyment's sake. There's a similar force at work in sports: "Willing Suspension of Rationality". If you doubt this, listen to any conversation between rival team fans. You even see it among fans of the same team. Fans argue over who's the better QB or goalie, and selectively cite stats that support their views while ignoring those that don't.

TORONTO -- The Hamilton Tiger-Cats find themselves back on top of the Nissan Titan Power Rankings following a convincing win in Week 7.

Hamilton Tiger-Cats
Week 7 Ranking: 1 (Last Week: 3)
Fuelled by their defence, which featured seven sacks and two pick-sixes, and Zach Collaros, who threw for three touchdown passes, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats now sit atop the Nissan Titan Power Rankings. That's three double-digit wins in a row for the Ticats, who keep rolling despite a number of key injuries.

Calgary Stampeders
Week 7 Ranking: 2 (Last Week: 2)
The Stampeders' spot remains unchanged after the team's bye week. Calgary has seen a number of its offensive linemen forced on the shelf along with star running back Jon Cornish. The Stamps host the Ottawa REDBLACKS at McMahon Stadium and are looking to even up the season series after being stunned in overtime in Week 5.

Edmonton Eskimos
Week 7 Ranking: 3 (Last Week: 1)
The Eskimos fall two spots after dropping a game to the Lions. Edmonton was shut out in the second half and Matt Nichols has remained inconsistent at quarterback. Already without Shakir Bell, the team lost Adarius Bowman midway through the contest and his status remains unknown. He's an important weapon and his prescence will be missed on offence if he's out for an extended amount of time.

Toronto Argonauts
Week 7 Ranking: 4 (Last Week: 4)
Finally playing a game at Rogers Centre, the Argonauts used two fourth-quarter touchdown strikes to rally and beat the Roughriders. Trevor Harris remains poised under centre and the team's receiving corps continues to be effective. Toronto will be looking to feed off this momentum in the upcoming weeks.

Ottawa REDBLACKS
Week 7 Ranking: 5 (Last Week: 7)
Henry Burris rallied the REDBLACKS and led them to a gutsy win over the Als while scoring the game-winning major. The offence is clicking while the defence continues to hold opponents to the second-fewest yards per game. Ottawa has already doubled its win total from last year and is poised to increase it even further.

BC Lions
Week 7 Ranking: 6 (Last Week: 8)
Led by Andrew Harris, the Lions climb up to the sixth spot. He scored another two touchdowns this week increasing his total to six on the year. BC was able to hold the Eskimos scoreless in the second half while Adam Bighill and Solomon Elimimian each recorded seven tackles in the win. The Lions are hoping to string a few more of these games together.

Montreal Alouettes
Week 7 Ranking: 7 (Last Week: 5)
The Alouettes lost another close game and need to find a way to put more points on the board. Montreal remains one of the lower-scoring teams in the league but its defence has kept it in a number of games this season.

Winnipeg Blue Bombers
Week 7 Ranking: 8 (Last Week: 6)
The Bombers are awaiting news on injured quarterback Drew Willy, while consistency continues to elude the Blue and Gold early in 2015. Yet they're still within striking distance in the highly-competitive West while a home date with the Argos is next.

Saskatchewan Roughriders
Week 7 Ranking: 9 (Last Week: 9)
The Roughriders are still searching for their first victory after blowing a fourth quarter lead to the Argonauts. Brett Smith improved in his second game at pivot but Saskatchewan will need to figure out a way to cut down on penalties - two touchdowns were called back against Toronto because of infractions.
