Of course not. I did not tune into the broadcast thinking, "boy, I sure hope Tristan Jackson gets hurt this game. And fast!"

I just saw it as poetically coincidental that a player who went to tackle to a prone player - low and leading with his helmet - was himself befallen by a knee injury the very next game.

Jackson's post game words did not impress me either.
“It’s football, so I don’t care,” he continued. “The first play of the game, their receiver came out and cut one of our players downfield, so it could have been the same way.

“They set the tone like that, so I just finished it.”

Jackson plays that way. He plays with fire. He got burned.

Too bad. Sympathy for him, after taking out Morrah's knee, with the knee as a target? No.

Shrug. And nobody targeted him, either.

I fully expect that in time such shots, diving, aiming the helmet or shoulder at the knee of a defenceless, back-turned player, will be made illegal also.

Football will always be a contact sport.

Just IMO, others see it differently.
.....

Oh, and by the way, I expect some will be upset at the special treatment given quarterbacks. Lulay runs for 105 yards, but slides at the point of contact. Fair? Some will protest. I expect the rules committees will look at it. I expect it to stay that way. QBs are the lifeblood of the business. If one can run, he can also get down, and avoid the hit.

The wise football franchises want their QBs to stay healthy. The leagues should do likewise.

Just IMO ...
John Madden's Team Policies: Be on time. Pay attention. Play like hell on game day.

Jimmy Johnson's Game Keys: Protect the ball. Make plays.

Walter Payton's Advice to Kids: Play hard. Play fair. Have fun.

I think there was some ever so subtle sense of 'if the chance arises....'
