46-17 final in a rout.
Esks finished the REDBLACKS off easily. Bit difference was the Esks putting pressure on Burris who lived up to his Jeckyll and Hyde QB'ing ability. Had the Lions been able to snag a few more offerings from Burris it may have been a different story last week, but it wasn't to be.TheLionKing wrote:Edmonton laying a beating on the undefeated RedBlacks 36-11 in the 2nd quarter

Calgary loses both their starting tackles in the first half and still beats Toronto 25-20 .
The Argos seemed strangely out-of-synch. That is by far the worst game I've seen Chad Owens play, and Trevor Harris was just 'okay' - over-throwing a lot of his targets.TheLionKing wrote:Calgary loses both their starting tackles in the first half and still beats Toronto 25-20 .
Ricky Foley was mostly invisible and the Argos got snookered by two Stamp screen passes on their final Calgary drive to seal it.

What was with Owens giving up the single with 30 seconds left in the half when he easily could have ran it out the end zone? He was brutal all night and seemed to be constantly in discussion with Harris on the sidelines.David wrote:The Argos seemed strangely out-of-synch. Trevor Harris ...wow... ripping into himself on how the Toronto Argonauts deserve better quarterbacking than he gave them. Class guy, sounded sincere. I don't think Milanovich is dumb enough to join in in this but will get it going in the right direction. As of now, Harris looks to be their future when HOF RR retires.

The Als win vs the Cats in Mtl for 18 straight home wins vs. Ham.
But Ham had a TD called back when a marginal to me flag on BGrant brought Banks' kick return to the end zone back to the 20 or so. That looked so weak a call it really didn't show and the TSN crew - Duane F and Rod B really didn't give an explanation of the call in the bank as there really wasn't one and IMO it had zero to do with TD run called back. To me that ruined the game and that TD would have been a game changer.
Post half you could see Kent Austin ripping into the officials for something - likely the number of calls vs his team.
Interesting half comments from Ryan Bomben NAT traded from MTL to HAM. His comments on how the Als were on the OL all stayed around MTL as many are from the region and how tight that team is speak volumes for their recruitment.
SJ Green catch from Cato in the endzone could be a catch of the year final.

Terrence Toliver's fumble was costly as Hamilton was driving for the winning touchdown.

I don't know much about Toliver but it surprised me when a few plays earlier he caught the ball and didn't immediately get out of bounds to stop the clock. Instead he wasted a couple of seconds to gain a foot.TheLionKing wrote:Terrence Toliver's fumble was costly as Hamilton was driving for the winning touchdown.
So it didn't surprise me when he caught the ball and didn't have the wisdom to tuck it away and go down.

Edmonton defeats 23-12. Two consecutive defeats now for Ottawa
Wpg @ Cgy now underway to wrap Week 4. Not sure who to root for here as a Lions fan.
Do we resign ourselves that, even though we both sit 2-1 right now, we won't be able to keep pace the whole season with defending champion Cgy and root for them to win and thereby keep the supposedly more overtake-able Bombers in our sights? Or do we root for Wpg as a way to perhaps keep everyone on a more balanced footing? Does the outcome of this game even matter to us at this early stage?
Either way one team will drop below us at 2-2 while the other creates some separation at 3-1, barring a tie.
Wpg draws first blood with a rouge on the opening kickoff and then after a Cgy 2 & out, Clarence Denmark reels in a 75yd catch-and-run TD from Drew Willy. The convert kick makes it 8-0 Wpg.

Sports can be a peculiar thing. When partaking in fiction, like a book or movie, we adopt a "Willing Suspension of Disbelief" for enjoyment's sake. There's a similar force at work in sports: "Willing Suspension of Rationality". If you doubt this, listen to any conversation between rival team fans. You even see it among fans of the same team. Fans argue over who's the better QB or goalie, and selectively cite stats that support their views while ignoring those that don't.
