Lions at Ottawa July 4 - Game Day Thread

Two flags on Ott, contact and RTP, moves BC up 25yds.
Sports can be a peculiar thing. When partaking in fiction, like a book or movie, we adopt a "Willing Suspension of Disbelief" for enjoyment's sake. There's a similar force at work in sports: "Willing Suspension of Rationality". If you doubt this, listen to any conversation between rival team fans. You even see it among fans of the same team. Fans argue over who's the better QB or goalie, and selectively cite stats that support their views while ignoring those that don't.

Yeah. Vanilla D all the way.
Two big penalties help our cause.
But this game would seem to need a miracle for us to win.

Ottawa's defence is ferocious. Ours is passive, without ferocity. Without aggressive intentions. Is this the real Mark Washington? Must be.

All this talk about an H Back. It has looked like nothing more than a slotback the entire night. No creativety what so ever.

Timeout just before the 3MW: use it or lose it.

Not. Even. Close. On the 3rd down gamble.

Instead we keep Lulay in and hand it off 5yds deep in the backfield.Toppy Vann wrote:That was the time for a fake with Jennnings..sj-roc wrote:Timeout just before the 3MW: use it or lose it.

Not liking what I see from Abdul Kanneh though, he looks like he targets heads and wants to injure guys. Dan Lefevour was right to be pissed last week.WestCoastJoe wrote:Ottawa's defence is ferocious......

It's done but some positives. Good learning for the new HC and better than I expected in parts of the game.
Late in the game, OTT was onto every play call and this put Lulay into too many forced downfield passes.
I think the OTT OFF this year was great to eat the clock up with far, far better mixing of plays.
Lions are too predictable.
