Roughriders release former first-overall pick Williams

The Saskatchewan Roughriders are saying goodbye to Shomari Williams for the second time.
The Roughriders released Williams, along with linebacker Marvin Burdette, putting an end to his second tour of duty in Saskatchewan.
After being drafted first overall by the team, Williams spent three years with the Roughriders before signing with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
The 29-year-old Queen’s product finished with 17 special teams tackles last season.
