Hope everyone has a relaxing holiday.
Twas the Night Before Xmas
'Twas the night before Christmas, the feeling was serene
Not a Lionbacker was stirring, not even Sammy Greene
Our stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St. Wally would soon be there
As all Lionbackers were nestled, snug in their beds,
Visions of an innovative new Head Coach danced in their heads.
And TheLionKing in his 'kerchief, and West Coast Joe in his cap,
Had just settled their thoughts for a long winter's nap.
When out on the roof there arose such a clatter,
Rammer sprang from his bed to see what was the matter
While further away, B.C. Fan flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutter, and threw up the sash.
The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave the lustre of midday to objects below,
When, what to South Pender’s eyes should appear,
But eight tiny B.C. Lions with a miniature sleigh at the rear
Then we heard “It’s in the past, that 2014 season of folly”
At that moment we all knew it must be St. Wally
More rapid than Riders or Tiger Cats, his players they came,
And he whistled and shouted and called them by name:
"Now Travis, now Sol E.
Now Bighill, now Rolly
On Jabar, On Lohr,
On Ryan, and Shawn Gore
To the top of the practice field
To the top of B.C. Place
Now dash away! Dash away!
Dash away all!"
St. Wally had presents for all, even MexicoLionFan
Then he was off to Hawaii to work on his tan
So up to the house-tops his players they flew,
Carrying a sleigh full of new promises and St. Wally too
And then, in a twinkling, notahomer heard on the street
The prancing and pawing of each little cleat
As Sir Percival drew in his head and was turning around,
Down the chimney St. Wally came with a bound.
He was dressed all in orange from his head to his foot,
And his clothes were all tarnished with a past season of soot
A bundle of press releases he had flung on his back,
And he looked like a peddler just opening his pack.
His eyes--how they danced, his dimples, how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
He had a smile on his face, his mouth was like a bow,
And the hair on his head was as white as the snow.
He was wily and plump, a right mischievous elf,
As well as being a living legend, even said so himself
And with a wink of his eye, along with the hiring of Ted
Exclaimed for 2015”Lionbackers have nothing to dread”.
He spoke not another word, but went straight to his work,
Giving the first present to David and then turned with a jerk
And laying his finger aside of his nose,
And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose.
He sprang to his sleigh, to his players gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim, 'ere he drove out of sight,
"Happy Christmas to all Lionbackers and to all a good night!"
