Montreal - 22

Interestingly, only 3 of 12 CFL cfl.ca beat writers are picking the Lions in this one (Justin Dunk, Bob Irving, and our own Jim Morris).

Depends on which Lion team is going to show up.
I have a friendly wager with a colleague who's a Montreal fan. Even though I bet on the Lions, I told him a few days ago that I expected Montreal to win. Similarly, while he's always been a Montreal fan, he said he expected the Lions to win. It's that type of season. Neither team has done a lot to inspire confidence in its fan base. But I'm encouraged by what I've seen and heard from the Lions heading into this game. They seem to be saying the right things and approaching the game with determination and confidence. On that basis, I'll go out on a limb and say Lions 23, Montreal 12.
If the Lions are going to win a playoff game this season, it is going to be this one, so I will pick them for the W.
Lions 32 - Als 23, may as well subscribe to an offensive game, although if one team gets a little desperate the spread may get wider.
Attendance 17, 182

Entertainment value = an all time low

In the other thread I predcicted a 36-18 trouncing by the Als. I wasn't too far off I'm sad to say.
Tell me how long must a fan be strong? Ans. Always.
With all due respect to everyone and at the risk of tooting my own horn I think my prediction (in another thread) was closest: PAIN à la Clubber Lang.
Sports can be a peculiar thing. When partaking in fiction, like a book or movie, we adopt a "Willing Suspension of Disbelief" for enjoyment's sake. There's a similar force at work in sports: "Willing Suspension of Rationality". If you doubt this, listen to any conversation between rival team fans. You even see it among fans of the same team. Fans argue over who's the better QB or goalie, and selectively cite stats that support their views while ignoring those that don't.

Toot away, toot away, something good has to come of this debacle.
