OUstanding job winning the Outstanding CFL Player award, by an outstanding player. Mid season I didn't think that there was any way he had a real shot at MOP when it first began to get discussed. Even when he represented the West, I was mildly shocked, but that may have been the more difficult route in reflection. I was somewhat confident in the season of the D that he would break that barrier that has stood the test of time.

A big congratulations and it couldn't happen to a better person. :beauty: :roar:

Congrats Sol. What a year for him!
-Believes in building from the trenches outwards. A great O-Line and D-Line guarantees an above average team.
-A coach that has to give a motivational pregame speech is probably a coach that is insecure about his game plan.

Whooo Hoooooooooo

Way to go, Solomon. :rockin:

Very nice speech. Gracious.

Nice words for all his people with the Lions. Nice words for Mike Benevides. Last but not least, thanks to Johnny Holland, Green Bay Packer Hall of Famer, LB coach with the Lions.

Well done.
John Madden's Team Policies: Be on time. Pay attention. Play like hell on game day.

Jimmy Johnson's Game Keys: Protect the ball. Make plays.

Walter Payton's Advice to Kids: Play hard. Play fair. Have fun.

When SolE wins the two big awards, a double post is very appropois.

Missed his speech (actually two speeches for the two separate awards, I guess), I was going to ask if anyone here caught it. Normally you thank your coach in this situation but when the guy just got fired this can be a bit awkward. Sounds like he navigated those choppy waters safely.
Sports can be a peculiar thing. When partaking in fiction, like a book or movie, we adopt a "Willing Suspension of Disbelief" for enjoyment's sake. There's a similar force at work in sports: "Willing Suspension of Rationality". If you doubt this, listen to any conversation between rival team fans. You even see it among fans of the same team. Fans argue over who's the better QB or goalie, and selectively cite stats that support their views while ignoring those that don't.

Awesome speech and well deserving. SolE is a joy to watch in stadium as he flows to make the tackle....

I'm hoping he doesn't win any awards next year but still needs to be in Winnipeg for other business....

Congratulations Solomon! Way to go! :rockin: :beauty:

No controversy as Elimimian got 48 out of 62 first place votes. And unlike Paul McCallum who didn't even know to wear a simple necktie for his own award presentation, Solomon showed everyone how one should dress up as for such a formal occasion with his black tie tuxedo for his double award.

Congratulations to Solomon.

I will never understand why Cam Wake wasn't voted MOP in his second year.

Some brights in an otherwise topsy turvey season for the Lions.
