Mike Bennevides and the B.C. Lions have a revolutionary plan in place for the 2014 CFL playoffs, one that promises to change the very way we think about the game.

Vancouver --In a season where the BC Lions offence has been positively anemic, failing to score a touchdown in five games this season, the Vancouver Sum can report that head coach Mike Bennevides has a cunning plan in place for the playoffs.

"The strength of our team is our Defence; 100%" said the sartorially challenged coach. "So we got thinking, what if we only played defence?"

As team president Dennis Skulsky nodded sagely in the corner, Coach B outlined his plan:

"We're great on D. Nobody questions that. And when it comes to special teams, we kick the crap out of the ball. We're great at field goals. Rouges. Punting. So in the playoffs, we're gonna kick. We're gonna kick on first down. Quick kicks, up and unders, onside craziness. It probably won't amount in that many points but....(and here Coach B gestured towards Kevin Glenn, consistently throwing purrfect spirals to Marsh & Phillips in skelly-drills) I don't think anyone will really notice.

"Bold. The plan is bold. And we need boldness at this point in the season. Am I right?"

But at this point there was nobody offering the celebratory chest bump Benny so desperately craved.

"Respectfully Coach," your intrepid reporter asked, "if there's no offence, isn't there a danger the game will be less exciting than....well....soccer?"

"I'm Portuguese and know my football from my futbol," Coach B said. "So believe me when I say, we're not in danger of being as exciting as soccer."
