Just ran across this on Pro Football Talk. This guy must be somewhat noteworthy to have caught the attention of PFT.

Collin Klein heads to Canada

Vince Young may not want to go to Canada to continue his football career. Ditto for Tim Tebow.

Collin Klein has no such qualms.

The former Kansas State star, who was undrafted and overlooked by the NFL last season, has signed a two-year deal with the CFL’s Montreal Alouettes.

He joins former NFL receiver Chad Johnson, who signed with the Alouettes last week.

Klein was invited last year to the Texans’ rookie minicamp on a tryout basis, the Texans liked Klein — but not enough to sign him to the 90-man offseason roster. He has refused to consider playing other positions. The CFL will give him a chance to show that he can play quarterback at the professional level.

Big guy--6-5, 226 lbs. Decent speed for a big man, but, according to NFL scouts lacks throwing accuracy (has an awkward delivery, but then so too does Mike Reilly, not to mention Philip Rivers). The NFL scouts did see him as a substantial running threat, however, with great tackle-breaking ability. Reminds some of Tim Tebow.

It's interesting how all these college quarterbacks who lack the skills to make it at the next level as a QB generally refuse to consider switching positions [on the other hand, remember Kordell (slash) Stewart?]. The Seahawks just signed Terrelle Pryor who seems very similar in this respect to Klein (although Pryor's far better). It will be interesting to see whether Pete Carroll can convince Pryor, 6-4, 233 lbs., but with blazing 4.38 speed, to consider playing receiver (he'd be dynamite in the slot, I'd guess) or maybe even TE. Of course, those who advocate a change of position for college QBs assume that they can catch, which may not always be true! Klein won't have to face that decision in Montreal, though, I imagine.

I get the feeling that the Alouettes are loading up and could be strong this season under the leadership of Tom Higgins.

Camp fodder. Guys who throw like him, and Tebow for that matter, went out of fashion in the CFL around 2003.

Learn from Michael Robinson and Ronald Curry and switch positions long enough to earn yourself a pension.

Pryor was acquired in a trade for a 7th round pick, not a free agent signing.
