HAMILTON - They say desperate times call for desperate measures.

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats, hot under the collar after starting the regular season 0-2, apparently took that expression to heart on Saturday night at Ivor Wynne Stadium against the hated Toronto Argonauts.

In a move described by one Toronto official as bush league, the Argos discovered prior to the game that the visitors dressing room at Ivor Wynne was oppressively hot, and that there was no working air conditioner. The feeling with the Toronto camp was that the Ticats purposely set it up so that there was no cooling unit in the room. The Argos had to dispatch somebody in the hours leading up to game time to find and rent a portable AC unit. Until then, all the players could do was hydrate like mad ... and think cool thoughts.

"The temperature inside the dressing room was 10 degrees hotter than outside," said the official. "All that heat drains the energy out of the players."

Sounds like Hamilton took a page out of Edmonton's book on how to mess with your opponent's heads

Ray was thrilled when the Esks recently renovated their dressing room @ Commonwealth. Wonder what he thinks of the visitors room now he's changing in there? I think these things should be fair. A one time maybe it made sense to not have hot water for showers and broken AC for your opponents. Now, I think its bush. If I owned a stadium, I'd want the visitors to have a nice, clean basic dressing room. No need for crap for the home team to win. There are enough aspects of 'home field advantage' that I don't think should apply to the dressing room tooo!

I think the reason Wally likes the roof closed at BC Place is because it enhances the piped in crowd noise.

It sounds like something Harold Ballard would have done when he owned the team. Or maybe the Gliebermans in Ottawa or F-Troop in Calgary, though I doubt that either of those fiasco factories would have had the brains to think that up.

I just recalled our last visit to IWS wasn't a very good one — a 42-10 loss on 2011/10/22, the lone blemish on our 12-1 run through the Grey Cup — but I don't remember hearing any stories like this in the aftermath.

And no team was allowed to do their walk through the day before the game either. Or am I wrong? Didn't the Esks do theirs but not the visitors?

Correct, they got away with it for years
