Watched the preseason and think that the reasons for some guy staying, and some leaving, are purely based on things only the Staff would know, things like how quickly they picked up the play book or made mistakes in assignments, things such as that as they played just fine.

Think Ianuzzi, on a more veteran team, could start, same with Foster, and you have Peterson to decide on as well, Bighill on the Lb corps played fine.

But cannot keep everyone, I like were the team is at heading into the season.

Why not? The riders seem to be able to keep 60 or so guys on their roster year after year. :hypno:

The Lions had approximately 58 or 59 players at practice today. Henderson not suited, but running a lot around the field and over the agility tape. LaRose not suited, out a week or two.

Kierrie Johnson – WR (Houston)

These players were all observed at practice today. Not sure about Carter.

I am happy to see that Wally is finally going to push the envelope of the rules as the Alouettes and the Riders in particular have done for years.

#BCLions place QB Corey Leonard & K/P Hugh O’Neill on 9-game injured list; release DB Michael Carter #CFL
Hmm, Leonard injured himself the other night?

Really?

FWIw WCJ, Wally said LaRose will play with a cast on his arm, but apparently his bone structure is a genetic throw back to that of a bird so the chances of that being his only injury are not very good, and not sure if I like Arakgi at Safety, seems to lack speed to me.

Suspect we see Davis at S sooner or later and a different NI starting at Cb, maybe one of the young guys.

and you have to think they will find a place for Mike Carter.

Heard it from the man himself today that he won't play for a week or two.

I agree about Carter. Did not see him at practice today, but could have missed him amongst the nearly 60 bodies.

Hard to say about Arakgi. Hopefully he can play the position. Tad Crawford played it well in college, tutored under Barron Miles for years, and then failed last year with the Lions.
--Players agreeing to the practice roster: OL Adam Baboulas, LB Adam Bighill, CB Marquez Hall, DE Rajon Henley, OL Nick Hennessey, DL Chris Hodgson, WR Kierrie Johnson.

--Players placed on the nine-game injured list: QB Corey Leonard, K Hugh O'Neill. Keep in mind one player in each half of the season can be prematurely removed off the nine-game list.

--Players placed on the one-game injured list: RB Jamall Lee, (though he practiced, as did Paris Jackson, for the first time this season); LB Joe Henderson, LaRose, DHB Stanley Franks

--Released: Draft pick CB Michael Carter.

Carter was given his outright release. I don't know whether a practice roster spot was offered and turned down.

Practice Roster is clear.

Injured list is clear.

9-Game injured list is posted. C Leonard and H O'Neill

49 players still on the list of 46 eligible to play. I would surmise 3 will have to make their way onto one of the injured lists. Michael Carter still on the Roster List of 49 players.

60 players in total.

I don't know about you guys, but having Aragki at safety scares the hell out of me. IMHO, he is lost, doesn't have killer speed and is easily looked off by opposing QB's. He can hit however....when he is in the play.
I said this last year and I'll say it again, Anthony Reddick should be our starting safety. Fast, big, and hits like a LB and was starting FS on the Miami Hurricanes as an underclassman. If he hadn't got hurt and been known for that on field dust-up, this kid would be in the NFL.

We keep trying to fill that spot with a NI....I would rather see Yurichuk or Gesse put in as a LB then have Aragki as our last line of defence. And although I like LaRose, he is quickly turning into the Lions version of Sami Salo. Maybe he would be better suited at that Rover/Nickel spot that Banks fills?
I'd love you to say it to my face because you'd only say it once...if you ever had the courage to say it at all!! Blitz, 05/24/2008

I am concerned about Jason Arakgi also, WCBF. Hopefully he will surprise us with his ability to play the position. But it is a brand new position for him.

I would like to see them look at Cauchy Muamba for that position. He played it in college, and he played it well. As you say, Reddick is an option. As is David Hyland.

We'll see soon enough about Arakgi at safety. No place to hide there. Tad Crawford got exposed rather quickly last year. Tad was missing his reads, too slow afoot, and tended to get all turned around on covering passes deep over the middle.

Well, Hodgson maybe broke his foot on Sunday, per LU, wonder who gets an invitation for the practice squad if it is true?

Carter maybe? He was the last cut.
