Tyron Gray?

hey, i was wondering if anyone could give me any info on him. he was a little before my time of becoming a serious lion fan. he played around the early 80's and noticed he went from defensive back to receiver. he had around 1400 yards receiving one year so i assume he was pretty decent but then he seemed to be gone pretty quick. anyone know what happened with him?

i could have the name wrong, but i have a 1982 lions media guide with TYRON GRAY and he had 63 catches for 1428 yards and 9 td's? maybe he added 2 e's to his first and last name to "canadianise" his name??!! :lol: :lol:squishy35 wrote:Tyrone Grey was a Western Allstar in 1981 with the Lions. Tryon Gray played 37 games for the Lions between 1979-1982. He was fleet footed receiver out of Washington State.

SPRING TRAINING CAMP
May 26, 1998
Head Coach Adam Rita is pleased to announce the Guest Coaches at the BC Lions Training Camp in Courtenay, BC on June 7th.
This year's Guest Coaching staff includes:
Casey Smith, Head Coach, UBC Thunderbirds (Guest Running Back Coach) - Casey enters his fourth year as Head Coach of the Thunderbirds and 12th year in a coaching capacity. Casey coached the T-Birds to the CIAU's National Championship in 1997. He worked in the CFL camps of the Toronto Argos, Ottawa Rough Riders and the BC Lions.
Kit Lathrop, Assistant Head Coach, Arizona Western College (Guest Defensive Line Coach) - Kit has been at Arizona Western College since 1995 and prior to that was the Defensive Line Coach for the Memphis Mad Dogs, the USFL's Arizona Outlaws, UNLV and ASU. He was USFL All Pro 3 years running and Most Outstanding Defensive Lineman in 1983-1984. Kit played Defensive End and Tackle for the KC Chiefs, Green Bay and Washington. He has also been a guest coach with the Hamilton Tiger Cats.
Steve Rogers, Defensive Secondary Coach, Arizona Western College (Guest LineBacker Coach) - Steve started his career in 1989 in Ohio's Mt. Union College playing Defensive Back and went on to become a Running Back/Wide Receiver student-coach. Then in 1994, at Defince College, Steve was the Running Back Coach and in 1995 the Offensive Line Coach. In 1996 he began at Arizona Western where he was the Linebacker Coach and will be the Secondary Coach this year.
Don Shindle, Past Assistant Coach, SFU Clansmen (Guest Defensive Secondary Coach) - Don was the Defensive Coordinator at Central Tech. in Toronto, winning the Metro Bowl in 1988. He went on to coach the North Dakota All Star team, Shanley High School. Don was the SFU Defensive Back Coach for three years. This will be his 4th year as a guest coach with the BC Lions.
Tyron Gray, BC Lion Alumni, (Guest Receivers Coach) - Tyron began his professional career as a BC Lion Defensive Back / Wide Receiver. He went on to play for the Ottawa Rough Riders, Saskatchewan Roughriders and the Milano Seamans of the Italian Football League. He has also 4 years of coaching experience.
Tucker Waugh, Assistant Coach, Illinois State Univ. (Guest Receivers Coach) - Tucker has been the at Illinois St since 1995 and prior to that was coaching at Depauw University and Otterbein College. Last year Tucker coached All-Gateway Conf. Receivers, Marquis Mosely and Rick Garrett. They enjoyed the second and ninth highest statistical receiving seasons in Illinois State history.
Denis Kelly, Head Coach, W.J. Mouat High School (Guest Quarterback Coach) - Denis began his coaching career at Vancouver College in 1974 and reached the finals in 1977. He was the Offensive Coordinator at SFU in 1981. He has guest coached three other Lions training camps.
Coach Rita said, "I am pleased with the talent these men will bring to the camp this year. They have a wide variety of football knowledge at all levels of the game and will provide leadership to our players throughout the Training Camp period."

There's a similar force at work in sports: "Willing Suspension of Rationality". If you doubt this, listen to any conversation between rival team fans. You even see it among fans of the same team. Fans argue over who's the better QB or goalie, and selectively cite stats that support their views while ignoring those that don't.
