For those who do not know his story, and this is a nice edition of it, enjoy the read.

He looked good on the Lions PR while here, but must not of made the impact that others did or he would not have been released.

Wow. What a great read.
Although this is the first I've heard of it, his story, as Rammer suggests, wasn't completely unknown to this point; this google cache of a page from the CIS football forum site indicates that his background was profiled on The Score 2-1/2 years ago. He played both basketball and football for the SMU Huskies, and his selection by the Lions in the 2002 draft -- the last of the pre-Buono era -- was something of a mistake. He was believed at the time to be a 4th year student due to a typo on the Huskies' web site when he was in fact only a rookie, and therefore not even draft-eligible by then.

Sports can be a peculiar thing. When partaking in fiction, like a book or movie, we adopt a "Willing Suspension of Disbelief" for enjoyment's sake. There's a similar force at work in sports: "Willing Suspension of Rationality". If you doubt this, listen to any conversation between rival team fans. You even see it among fans of the same team. Fans argue over who's the better QB or goalie, and selectively cite stats that support their views while ignoring those that don't.

Excellent read. You got to pull for an underdog like that.
