So I didn't even realize that if Duncan had missed, the Lions would have likely lost the game. So I was considerably less stressed about the Duncan kick in OT because I thought at worst the game is just tied and they play another round of possessions. Whoops!
Yeah, and you almost suffered a heart attack as you stated a few times before in the past.  Did you bother to stay around to see the newly designed trophy presentation? :yahoo:
So....how about talking about the 2006 and 2011 WDF instead in which McCallum did his job and you and all Lions fans were not even close to getting a heart attack with the blowout wins? What was your best memory for those two blowout WDF wins other than not getting a heart attack?
Didn't make any comment about nearly having a heart attack in this post. As you said, I've mentioned it before and it seems to be a source of irritation to you.

From 2006, I think it was some bone headed decisions by Danny Barrett near the end of the first half that led to some quick scores by the Lions to put the game out of reach. The 2006 team was so dominant I didn't feel they were going to be denied. I really disliked the Danny Barrett era of the Riders because those teams never won anything yet he was one of the most arrogant coaches I have ever seen. I enjoyed every minute of that blowout win for the Lions.

I didn't go to the 2011 WDF although I was at the Grey Cup the following week. Nothing but good memories from that one!

Lui knew it was time. It was well known before the season was over that it would be his final season. There was a huge (for 2000) crowd of over 33000 for the final regular season game because it would be Lui's final game at BCP. If I recall they honoured him with a post-game celebration on the field.
Exactly. Lui was clear it was his last season and at the time he was working for me part time. At the last game he had a list of friends, family, former coaches, players and wives invited to a box then in the 4th Q. we were taken down to the sidelines to be there at the end. After there was a private reception where we mixed and mingled. Dave Ritchie was there too. Lorne Davies and others.

Did Lui make it over the goal line for the TD? I don't know as we could only see it on the screen. The sideline is one of the worst places to see a game.

___

I think they didn't do this in preseason as the new gunslingers that came to town weren't able to take Paul down. BUT magically they got these guys and I have never seen so many reports on a Lions TC since coming on this board where the Kickers were mentioned and there was a sense of some buzz about it.

Paul has every right to be annoyed that he committed but they didn't and where can you find a kicking job now.

The Lions have every right to do what they have done given the quality of the kickers they seem to have now.

Dave Cutler was let go in TC and I know from blurting something out to him at to why he was cut that he knew exactly who the source was -that Dave wasn't terrifically happy about it. Cutler was cut. I was on an alumni awards committee (I was President of the association) when we selected 4 winners. Lui had one before. I got the committee to move the athletics winner to the next year and we quickly got Cutler as it was a September ceremony. Then we asked Chris Beaton - an Esks guest coach that year to present the award. When I called Chris I asked why Dave was cut. He said he really didn't know - it was a "family" decision and guests aren't "family." But he had heard some talk among coaches that Dave had trouble with his plant leg. So that night in the cocktail session pre-dinner I mentioned that. He said immediately something like "Oh so that is what they (the Esks) are saying!" It was clear he felt it was an undercurrent of spin.

Looks like McCallum wants to show BC he can still do it, considering the timing of back-to-back games coming up.

Makes this article very ironic:
http://www.thestarphoenix.com/sports/Mi ... story.html

Chris Milo (who has been "deactivated") was good on his 19 yard FG attempt, and missed on his 48 yard attempt in last weekends game.

Ray Early's punting was pretty good in the last game-- 4 punts with an avg of 48 yards, and a longest of 51 yards, so MCCallum won't be going there to do that.

Why would Toronto not have called first?

Paul McCallum the last Ottawa Rough Rider back from 1993 left in the CFL. His funny but fuzzy memories below. The whole article is worth reading including comments from Paul on hoping for Lui to retire....lol. He could lie and say he never thought that but we all know better.

Loved the fight in the meeting room discussing the Pate award. Great story.
Twenty-one years later, Paul McCallum’s recall of details of his short stint with the Ottawa Rough Riders is fuzzy. He can’t remember the name of his holder for field goals and converts, for example.

But some are unforgettable.

• A fight between defensive linemen Glenn Kulka and Andrew Stewart during a meeting to select the Riders’ nominee for the Tom Pate Memorial Award for sportsmanship and contributions to team, community and the Canadian Football League Players’ Association. Kulka required 44 stitches.

Pretty simple I think. Waters was handling all 3 kicking duties in Toronto. They needed a guy who could do all 3 While McCallum can do them all he is now pretty much a 45 and in specialist. His KO range over the past 4 years has declined to around 56 yards. His punting numbers have dropped each of the last 4 years to where in 2014 he was down to a 39.7 ave and 31.3 net albeit on only a dozen kicks.

It is conceivable Toronto did call first and McCallum may have declined. The Toronto situation is such that he might've said "ya know it isn't worth it to go to Toronto to live out of a suitcase as a short-term replacement". The Argos don't actually play in Toronto until mid-August. He'd have to leave his other job, real estate, to travel to Toronto to practice only to in turn get back on a plane to travel to the next Argo game. Most of them are out west. I'm sure the Argos would allow him to pop back home as time allows, perhaps excusing him from some practice sessions. In Gary Anderson's final couple of NFL seasons with Tennessee he went back home to Canmore, AB between games and would return to the Titans for the final 2 practices of the week.

Argos schedule starting this week?
In Regina
In Calgary
Bye
In BC
In Hamilton
Home finally
In Winnipeg
If PM joined the Argos he'd be bouncing back and forth across the country like a pinball.

Riders schedule over the same period.
Home
BC
Home
Home
Edmonton
Toronto
Bye
Almost no travel and far easier to juggle onfield business and off-field business.
