Canada West, Shaw and N8 Group Partner to bring Canada West Football and Hardy Cup Playoffs to Shaw TV and Global Television

More Canada West football games than ever before will be broadcast in 2015, including the playoffs and 79th Hardy Cup airing Saturday, November 14 on Global

Global’s national broadcast platform will provide the largest ever televised audience for a Canadian university sporting event

NEW WESTMINSTER, BC - September 3, 2015 - Canada West Universities Athletic Association (CWUAA), Shaw, and the N8 Group are pleased to announce the expansion of Canada West football’s television broadcast schedule for 2015, including Global’s national broadcast of the 79th Hardy Cup on Saturday, November 14th.

Global will be the official home for the 2015 Hardy Cup Playoffs, and will also air one of two Hardy Cup semi-finals across its network on Saturday, November 7.

"Bringing the Canada West product to a national television audience on Global is an exciting opportunity for the conference,” Ian Reade, Canada West President said.

“Shaw, along with the N8 Group, have shown tremendous support for Canada West football over the years, and this season will help showcase our student-athletes in more households than ever before.”

The two games will represent the largest ever televised distribution of a Canadian university sporting event, with Global providing a national broadcasting platform for the games.

“Canada is home to outstanding university level sports and we’re proud to showcase that nationally through our broadcast of this season’s Hardy Cup playoffs on Global,” said Phil Piazza, Vice President, Global TV, Marketing & Content Acquisitions, Shaw Media.

Along with Global’s coverage of the Hardy Cup Playoffs, Shaw TV will once again be the home to conference regular-season action in 2015, with Krown Produce Canada West Football on Shaw TV broadcasting a total of 12 games this season, including four in collaboration with Regina’s Access Communications.

Canada West’s expanded television presence was made possible thanks to the work of the N8 Group, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of Canadian collegiate sport.

“We are fortunate to have three willing and progressive partners in Shaw, Global Television, and Canada West who embrace the vision of enhancing the exposure to Canadians for CIS football by way of the Canada West Conference playoffs,” said L. David Dube N8 Group Founding Partner.

Shaw TV’s coverage of Canada West football kicks off this Friday, when the defending Hardy Cup champion Manitoba Bisons travel to Saskatoon to take on the Saskatchewan Huskies in a rematch of last year’s Hardy Cup semi-final.

2015 marks the ninth season of Krown Produce Canada West Football on Shaw TV, bringing Canada’s most competitive university football conference to fans across the country.

Each live, regular season broadcast can be seen on local Shaw TV, Shaw HD, Shaw Direct 299 and on Access Communications’ channel 7/70. The N8 Group’s Krown Countdown U, Canada’s weekly college football show can be seen 30 minutes before each game during the regular season.
