Canada kills off the penalty to improve its tournament leading PK to 20 of 21, and then scores its 5th goal shortly thereafter, from Domi again. 5-1 Canada.
Russia gets another power play as Virtanen is called for charging at 13:22 of the 2nd.

Sports can be a peculiar thing. When partaking in fiction, like a book or movie, we adopt a "Willing Suspension of Disbelief" for enjoyment's sake. There's a similar force at work in sports: "Willing Suspension of Rationality". If you doubt this, listen to any conversation between rival team fans. You even see it among fans of the same team. Fans argue over who's the better QB or goalie, and selectively cite stats that support their views while ignoring those that don't.

Another goal from Russia to pull within two less than a minute later.

This is unbelievable !
Russia gets its 4th on their 3rd PP.
You get the feeling this is going to be another one of those classic 6-5 Canada-Russia games, but for who?
Canada calls a time out to settle things down.

Yet another penalty for Canada as period two ends, hooking against Reinhart who couldn't keep position on his man on that play. But I guess that's a D's job.
Russia will start the 3rd on their 4th PP and with all the momentum as well, you have to think.
Canada needs this intermission to cool off and get their heads back the game.

Imperative that Canada kill the first 2 minutes starting the 3rd period. Defencemen need to make much better decisions as to when to pinch. Russia thrives on the counter attack.
P3 underway.

Canada kills off the Reinhart penalty but need to start taking the play to Russia. 17:43 remaining as they cling to a 5-4 lead.

Keep it simple. Make the safe play
That's the problem, they're not. Trying to make too long passes at times. They haven't registered a SOG in this period until just moments ago, some 5-1/2 mins in.TheLionKing wrote:Keep it simple. Make the safe play
