Canucks officially open their 2014-2015 season with a split squad game against San Jose. Should be an interesting season with all the changes in management, coaches and players. Lots of new players. They play in the strongest division and will be an uphill battle to make the playoffs.

I'll watch the Canucks as long as there is NO FOOTBALL whatsoever (okay I'd pick the Canucks over Arena League but any NCAA, NFL and of course CFL games take priority over hockey, for me). I can't watch NHL hockey is the Canucks are not involved, EXCEPT the odd playoff game.

I did see some of the highlights of tonights preseason game. Hope Subban turns out well, nice to see him score on his first shot. Hope he's nasty like his partner Bieksa or his older brother P.K. That is what the Canucks have needed for quite awhile, IMO, some nastiness.

Sounds like a good start as the Canucks beat the Flames in Calgary 4-2! I'll watch the highlights, sounds like a solid start......

Yeah, a good start. Let's see how Willie Desjardins will do as a rookie head coach. I'd say that as a rookie coach in the professional level he will be more professional compared to John Tortorella.

Canucks win in a shootout over the Oilers.

A great, triple win in Vancouver for their sports teams this weekend with the Whitecaps also winning last night in Seattle and bringing home a trophy.

Larshied wants to hear Vancouver home of the Grey Cup Champion Lions and Stanley Cup Canucks IN THE SAME SEASON. Not exactly sure what that means. Probably they (Canucks) win in June (July? ) and the Lions win in November. Me, I wouldn't care. Just get that first cup for the Canucks and bookend it with Lions Grey Cup wins...sounds good to me....

Well, I'd say 2006 was a pretty darn good season for sports in Vancouver with the Lions winning the Grey Cup at home, both the Whitecaps Men and Women capturing their respective championships, and although the Canucks didn't do so well at least the Giants captured their first WHL Championship as well.

I don't think 1994 should be mentioned before mentioning 2011 first given that that was even closer given the fact that they had not one but two chances to win just one more game to win it all.

yeah, but both 94 teams and runs were more exciting, and my son was born that year right in the middle of the hockey playoffs. :rockin:

So apparently the Canucks streak of sellouts is coming to an end as of tomorrow! Have to admit did not think this would happen.....
-----------------
and what is with the NHL schedule makers. The Canucks and Lions both finished games October 11. The Canucks haven't played a game since but then have to play Friday night in Edmonton and Saturday in Vancouver? :dizzy:

This is further evidence that there's no conspiracy by the Canucks to steal the spotlight from the Lions by deliberately scheduling games across the street on the same evening. I can't see the Canucks setting such a schedule for themselves if they could control it to their liking.
Sports can be a peculiar thing. When partaking in fiction, like a book or movie, we adopt a "Willing Suspension of Disbelief" for enjoyment's sake. There's a similar force at work in sports: "Willing Suspension of Rationality". If you doubt this, listen to any conversation between rival team fans. You even see it among fans of the same team. Fans argue over who's the better QB or goalie, and selectively cite stats that support their views while ignoring those that don't.

Good point, and I'm in the camp the Canucks/NHL doesn't even contemplate CFL in setting up their schedule EXCEPT perhaps Grey Cup Sunday (in terms of games in Canada). ANd I doubt they care much about that either.....

Caught a bit of the Canucks game and they showed a interesting piece of news I hadn't heard about. The Canucks hopped on a plane after the win (across the street from the Lions game) to take in the Seahawks/Cowboys game in Seattle. They had photos taken with the Seahawks before the game etc.... Glad they had fun.
