I can't believe an MLBer fell for the oldest trick in the book. Even as 10 year olds we always tried this and nobody ever got fooled.

Sports can be a peculiar thing. When partaking in fiction, like a book or movie, we adopt a "Willing Suspension of Disbelief" for enjoyment's sake. There's a similar force at work in sports: "Willing Suspension of Rationality". If you doubt this, listen to any conversation between rival team fans. You even see it among fans of the same team. Fans argue over who's the better QB or goalie, and selectively cite stats that support their views while ignoring those that don't.

Carpenter was preoccupied with the dirt. LOL

Forget about the dayum dirt.

Dirt on the hands. Dirt on the uni. Dayum stuff.

Even after the coach gives him sheeit, he is still preoccupied with the dayum dirt. Now he hates it more than ever. LOL

Keerist, it is Major League dirt. No germs. Screened. Cleaned. Hardly even dirt anymore. LOL

Try some playground dirt with glass bits and dog droppings.
