Re: Yikes! Lions 2024 potential free agents
Re linebackers. On the one hand, it is good to deal from a position of strength, but also hard to lose young talent that the team recruited and developed. My inclination is that starting calibre Canadians, especially when they are from BC like Hladik, are more rare and valuable than US players. Unle...

Re: Yikes! Lions 2024 potential free agents
Still bothers me to see guys getting released prior to a bonus payment due. Only in the CFL. Also makes me wonder if the two year deal was part of the process that swayed Steven Dunbar to sign in Edmonton when he could have been a key player for the Ti Cats in a Grey Cup hosting year. Probably soun...

Re: Dane Evans Retires
Good for him for knowing what he wants and going for it.
Given the state of quarterbacking around the league, he likely could have gotten a decent incentive-based contract with a great chance of winning a starter job. It is definitely a loss for the league.

Re: Training camp or game in Victoria in 2024?
I do think demand will far exceed supply for this contest. Hard to believe there won't be at least 4K-5K of Mainlanders and CFL fans from other cities. So it won't take many locals to fill the place. DH  Personally, I can't wait. I'm going to be on the ticket site the moment that tickets go o...

Re: Training camp or game in Victoria in 2024?
I don’t see a regular season game in Victoria as being viable. Starlight Stadium is too small. Adding 4000 temporary seats would cause parking and traffic chaos. Public transit is lacking and there are few nearby amenities. I’m skeptical that there is a great demand in Victoria or that people would ...

Re: Yikes! Lions 2024 potential free agents
Good to see Stove give it another shot. Could be a great signing for BC. As for Betts, lots of factors go into where a player ultimately signs. Dollars, coaches, team culture, location, relationships outside football, among others. Not everyone wants to stay close to home. I certainly don’t know eno...

Re: WEST FINAL LEOS BOMBERS POST GAME THOUGHTS
It seems to me that it is very difficult for a defense to prevent a quick 5 yard pass where the passer and receiver are on the same page and the throw is well executed. This is what we needed--those quick hitters to keep drives alive and keep the Bombers defense on the field. This is the bread and b...

Re: West Final: Lions at Bombers
At the start of the year, our big two receivers were Rhymes and Whitehead. At the end of the year, both had taken a backseat to Hatcher and Hollins, which speaks to our ability to find talent. We may see a shakeup to the receiving core over the off season, perhaps to emphasize a more balanced offense.

Re: West Final: Lions at Bombers
I thought Butler was underwhelming in his first year here, though he showed just enough promise near the end of the year to bring back for a second year. He seems like a smart player with a knack for finding the holes. Still, I am not sure he is in the same class as Oliveira, Ouellette, Carey, Brown...

Re: West Final: Lions at Bombers
I’ve been a Lions’ fan since 1963, and lived through a lot of lean years when the team wasn’t competitive. Despite the finish, the 2023 Lions have been one of the most exciting teams to watch in 60 years. The entertainment on the field, in the stadium and engagement in the community has been top no...

Re: Lions at Ticats Oct. 13, 2023
I don't know if the rule changed between 2012 and 2023. From what I can see, there is nothing in the 2023 rules about being touched. Maybe that is just a convention or unofficial holdover from past times? In the 2023 rules, Rule 1, Section 4 Dead Ball sets out the various circumstances where a ball...

Re: Lions at Ticats Oct. 13, 2023
At the start of the year, I thought there was a good chance that Evans would have supplanted Adams as starter by this point in the season. Adams has exceeded all expectations and deserves to be #1, but I still think Evans can be a top level starter in the CFL. He is better than at least half the sta...

Re: Lions at Ticats Oct. 13, 2023
I think it was clear that Hatcher was intending to go down in order to give his team the chance to win the game by a field goal. Even if he wasn't touched, it was a dead ball per the rules. Is this a new rule that was added in recent years? I've included both videos above for comparisons and I'm su...
