Re: Stampeders vs. Lions Game Day Thread

Here We Go Lions, Here We Go! Bom...Bom :cheer:

Should be a good one tonight! Stopping the Stamps rushing attack is the key. If Messam rushes for over 100 yds, the Lions opportunity to win will be substantially diminished...even if Jennings plays lights out.

Re: well, it seems I greatly overestimated willy

Willy was the next one up...much like how J. Franklin is viewed now. The Bombers were the team looking for a starting QB and Willy was regarded as the best available at the time. That doesn't necessarily mean he's a great QB. Willy is so immobile that if has to turn his body in any manner he usually...

Re: Stampeders vs. Lions Game Thread

McGhee looked much better than Price in the practices I saw in Kamloops. He's mobile, makes good decisions, has a strong arm and delivers the ball on target. Receivers, though, had a lot of trouble with his left-handed deliver an kept dropping passes or bobbling them into the air. With McGhee being...

Re: Are there ANY glaring weaknesses on this 2016 Lions team

RB: Hopefully the Lions will bring in some scatbacks to camp. The lumbering CFL castoffs they've signed so far don't impress me much. WR: Arsenaux OK, but N. Moore...then it goes downhill from there. A new recruit must beat out Hawkins. DL: We can cross our fingers they found somebody to pressure fr...

Re: Vernon Adams Maybe a BC Lion?

Why the Als would contemplate bringing in another QB after how good Brandon Bridges looked in his start last year...is hard to fathom? This is a great deal getting a 1st rounder for an unsigned nobody. Reminds me of the Jason Gesser deal when Wally traded his neg rights to Calgary for a 1st round pi...

Re: Lions in the local media

Bro Jake and his sidekick blowhard David Pratt is a joke. There is no doubt that the Whitecaps have surpassed the Lions in fan support in this city. You should doubt it and just because the media covers the Whitecaps and NFL more doesn't make them more popular. The NFL is only more popular among sp...

Re: Jennings camp demanding new deal

If Travis is only making $165k, he might need a new agent too. I'd have projected Travis' new contract to be in the $250k range, with starting bonuses bringing the maximum close to $400k. That's what veteran starters normally earn in the CFL. I'd have thought all QB's would have starting bonu...

Re: Jennings camp demanding new deal

Jennings is in a very poor bargaining position at this time. Yes, his salary is low but it's comparable to about half the players in the league. If he doesn't report to camp he could be suspended, until Feb. 2018. After starting 7 games, he just hasn't proved himself yet and isn't worthy of a vetera...

Re: Free Agent Signings

I'm not very keen on this five receiver set idea. Not that it's a new idea :bang: I'm not either. Fullback should be a skill position, skilled at blocking, receiving and rushing. There's no way the QB can follow 5 receivers, most of them are just decoys who are ignored for most of the game. It's be...

Re: How is Winnipeg affording all this?

The Bomber GM said they haven't overpaid for any of their signings. There are so many free agents available that might tend to moderate the salaries.

Re: Harris Won't Be Back...Pretty Much Official

Kory Sheets may also be available, assuming his hamstring injury has healed. He was a dominating RB in Sask, almost unstoppable in big games. He could be worth an invite to camp, as the Riders will apparently take a pass on him.

Re: Upcoming free agents

I have a feeling Chick will end up back in Sask this season, but he'd be a huge upgrade over anybody else the Lions have. I'd say sign him for a year or two if they have the shekels.

Re: Wally's press conference ... Filling vacancies

I had suggested K. Jones be elevated to OC mid-way through this season. Wasn't he also the Lions QB coach? Khari must have done something right with J. Jennings emerging as one of the best young QB prospects the league has seen in a while. Credit should also go to T. Lulay, J. Beck, G. Cortez, W. Bu...

Can't get Steinauer out of Hamilton with a crowbar, it seems. Not when Kent Austin is using iron bars to keep him locked up through the final year of his contract with the Ticats, according to Farhan Lalji. Farhan Lalji @FarhanLaljiTSN The #TiCats have denied the #Eskimos permission to speak with D...
