Topic: Which gets Vancouver more attention: the Olympics or NBA?

The Olympics are a one-shot deal. They'll give Vancouver a place in history and the attention of people in northern climes around the world for a few weeks in 2010, but that fame is fleeting. How often do you hear these days of Nagano, Lillehammer, Sapporo, Albertville, Innsbruck or Grenoble, and ho...

No to the Olympics, but I'd love to see a World Cup-style gridiron tournament every four years if a handful of countries are interested in participating.

It looks like ESPN removed the poll and accompanying map from its home page. The results are posted on its Super Bowl page: Which team will win Super Bowl XL? Pittsburgh Steelers 64% Seattle Seahawks 36% Total votes: 89,148 The Steelers were the favourite in every U.S. state except Washington, Orego...

There's a similar poll at espn.com, which has a map showing each team's support by region. The Seahawks have absolutely no respect outside of the Northwest. If I were a betting man, I'd put some money on the Seahawks, especially with a spread of 3 or 3.5 points.

Russell did a good job with the story, and Rick Dhaliwal and Lowell Ullrich offered strong, if differing, perspectives. I agree with Ullrich that this day was inevitable. Casey has strong NFL aspirations and just wants an opportunity to prove himself. One thing that can't be denied is that Printers,...

The Ironman in Penticton is a fun event. The town gets caught up in it and the race atmosphere is much better in person than on TV, even though you only get to see a small glimpse of it as the competitors go by.

Gang Green, led by the arrogant Roy Shivers and followed by the most fickle fan base in the league. One day they're planning a parade for their world-beaters. The next day they're running the bums out of town.

All three are sure-handed 1,000-yard receivers. Only one is also a key blocker who can flatten linebackers. JC wins for versatility.

I'm aiming for TO in '07. I don't do winter and don't have the wardrobe or fortitude to sit through an outdoor game on the Prairies in November.

I respect the Esks and think they're due for a good offensive game for a change, and I like the Esks fans who post online, but I reserve the right to change my mind after hanging around out-of-town fans downtown for the next few days.

I voted for the DD injury Oct. 1 but the real turning point for me was the Tompkins kick return for the game-winning touchdown Sept 24 at Commonwealth. The Lions had fought from behind to tie the game and again appeared to be invincible. They fell apart mentally after that, taking uncharacteristic p...

I supported Dickenson last year and this year, believing his experience gave the Lions the best chance to win the Cup in 2004 and 2005. I've always believed that Printers holds the most promise for the future of the franchise, both on and off the field. Sign him up and build the offence around him. ...

O'Mahony is the only option at this point. McLoughlin isn't even going to try to test his injured leg until Friday. It will be interesting to see what happens on Sunday if DO has to step up with the game on the line but he's done it before and I certainly will be pulling for him. On a related note, ...

Just saw a postgame TSN interview with Maciocia on the Esks quarterback situation for the Western final. His quote:
"I don't know who's going to start. There's no quarterback controversy here. We're going to go back to Edmonton and get this team ready to play next week"
