Re: Empire Stadium Replay Screen
We also used to park (for free) on the east side of Cassiar near Sir John Franklin Elementary and walk down the hill. I don't remember ever worrying about traffic at uncontrolled intersections on Cassiar, even though it was the direct link between the Valley and the North Shore. Yes, it's amazing t...

Re: Empire Stadium Replay Screen
Great to see the hi-rez view. Thanks for the link. Funny how memory fades. I'd forgotten about the houses being between Cassiar and the stadium.... and I note that the Player's ad has moved across the street to the Cassiar and Hastings corner..... Me too. We used to park on the other side of Cassia...

Re: Leos/Als Post Game Thoughts
We gave up a lot of points against an opponent in turmoil last night. 7 pts were directly attributable to Bodewijn's fumble (which I saw as a major gaffe rather than a great defensive play), but giving up 20 points to Mtl's offense is less than stellar. Yes, the Alouettes have some internal difficu...

Re: 2016 All Things Lions Marketing & Promotions
i was at the caps game last night. probably 5000-6000 (CCL games are a essentially free in season tix package). more evidence that mid week games don't work anymore in Vancouver due to traffic. Unless you live on skytrain line, you aren't going midweek Wow! A couple of questions: 1. I trust your cr...

Re: Ticats at Lions postgame stats and comments
With regards to the missed FG, Leone should have kicked it hard enough that if he did miss it went through the back of the end zone. To be fair to Leone, he really can't be thinking this way when he lines up to kick field goals. He needs to focus only on the mechanics of his leg swing, and the assu...

Re: Ticats at Lions postgame stats and comments
Both the Stamps and Leos had Don Sweet work with them this year as a kicking consultant. Paredes has turned his year around; maybe due to his work with Sweet? If not still on the Lion's books, maybe Sweet should come back and spend some more time with Leone. His place kicking has improved but got k...

Re: Ticats at Lions postgame stats and comments
The Banks return was impressive, he pretty much had 2/3rds of the field to run towards and outran all the Lions that were coming down field. He was past half the team by the 25 yard line. I did think that one of the Lions (it might have been Lulay coming laterally towards the sidelines) was held an...

Re: Ticats at Lions postgame stats and comments
Collaras made a bad throw on third down, the football bounded off Edem's brick hands to the ground, and our Leos were 5-2. "Brick hands" aside, the correct play in that situation is to knock the ball down rather than intercept it, thereby negating the possibility of a fumble on the return...

Re: Ticats at Lions postgame stats and comments
Another stat that should be mentioned is that Richie Leone punted seven times for an average of 62.4 yards and a net of 46.6 yards. A couple of long punts bounced into the end zone for singles but anything that prevents Brandon Banks from breaking the game open is good. Leone's only mistake of the ...

Re: Ticats at Lions postgame stats and comments
And that bogus illegal block penalty on Lokumbo on Rainy's TD kick return...It was clearly visible on TV as it was happening live that the Stamp player turner his back to the blocker (Lokumbo) just as the block was about to be made. That would have been a bad call for a high school ref to make. :ba...

Re: Ticats at Lions postgame stats and comments
It was a game of two halves. The Lions came out attacking, sacked a rusty Zach Collaros five times and built up a 32-12 halftime lead but the Ticats wouldn't quit. They sent more pressure, jumped routes and capitalized with a long INT that turned the tables, narrowed the score to 32-19 and sent the...

Re: Als' Venables fined for hit on Jennings
Just to make this point however is that the CC is able to call other penalties on the play if they are observed in the course of a coaching challenge. So from that point of view, while it may not have been a roughing the passer call, the CC still could have called UR and seeing as they were looking...

Re: Als' Venables fined for hit on Jennings
I'm not an authority on this but I think it is the other way around. I think that when a tackler launches himself over the pile at the ball carrier he has to ensure that he does not lead with his helmet and initiate helmet to helmet contact or else there is a penalty. The CFL who did the fines, the...

Yes, Beamish confirmed this in today's Sun. The Lion's website had the wrong information posted.David wrote:
Nope. It was definitely the other way 'round from everything I've read. Johnson released, Palmer signed by Bucs, and Palacio signed by Seahawks.
