Re: Official CFL Draft Thread, May 3, 2012

The good news is that so far Virginia OL Austin Pasztor appears to be the only CFL draft-eligible player to have signed an NFL contract as an undrafted free agent. Aside from Pasztor and a pair of defensive ends drafted by NFL teams, Boise State DE Tyrone Crawford and Georgia State DE Christo Biluki...

Re: Official CFL Draft Thread, May 3, 2012

Scratch another D-lineman from the list of potential Lions' draft choices. DE Christo Bilukidi of Georgia State, ranked the No. 6 overall CFL draft prospect, was taken in the sixth round of the NFL draft by Oakland.

Re: Open House for Season Ticket Holders....

I realize this is a B.C. Place event and they want to invite fans of their two sporting tenants but I wish they would have given each team a day if its own. The idea of testing out the field and throwing a football around while Whitecaps fans are kicking a soccer ball around is odd, to say the least.

Re: Rajon Henley and Teryl White - Lions' D Line Hopefuls

Sometimes fans get caught up in stats.....or more accurately in this case, lack of stats. Same thing with former Lions DE Kris Wilson a number of years ago.....poor sack totals, but close watch of his play showed that he was almost always the first into the opposition backfield pressuring the QB......

Re: Jason Clermont Retires

It's rare for a rookie receiver to come into the league and catch everything thrown his way, especially when being rocked immediately after making a tough grab over the middle. Clermont did that from the beginning of his career in 2002. He had great hands and great heart. To me, he'll always be LION...

Re: Kwasi Nkansah

Nkansah's signing was announced Monday and mentioned in Lowell Ullrich's article in The Province. He's a former teammate of Cauchy Muamba's at St. Francis Xavier who took the unusual route of attending a Lions' free-agent tryout camp in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. He'll battle Muamba, J.R. LaRose and poss...

Re: Kerry Joseph as starter for the Eskimos? LOL

Kerry Joseph was released by the Argos after a 3-15 season in 2009 and hasn't started a game since. Now the Argos have Ricky Ray and the Esks think Joseph can replace him as starter in Edmonton? I think Kavis Reed has been dipping into Eric Tillman's medicine cabinet.

From Rick Dhaliwal of News1130 Sports:
CFL shows off their new Reebok jerseys May 1st. B.C Lions uniform stays pretty much the same - just trim change.

Re: Not Such a Good Trade?? Odell Willis Busted

TSN: http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=393638 O'Sullivan also threw 11 interceptions, fumbled 11 times and was sacked 32 times in starting eight games. When I saw those numbers, I thought they must be career stats but, no, they're from 2008, his best season in the NFL. How do you get 11 fumbles and 3...

Re: Who are the next stars? Who has to step up?

Great assessment, David. I concur, especially with Dennis and Mahmoudi being on the bubble. They were both healthy scratches last year when the team had little depth at their positions. With all the vets vying for jobs in the secondary and nickelback this year, there isn't much room for either of th...

Re: The Lions & the Canucks...

One Lions season ticket can be brought for roughly the price of two Canucks single-game playoff tickets. If the Canucks are eliminated early, there could be disposable money floating around in the pockets of sports fans. A bigger issue, perhaps, is the media saturation that a deep Canucks playoff ru...

Re: Scorecasting....

The penalty stats seem interesting. On the surface, there appears to be some validity to them. The Lions took 25% fewer penalties than their oponents last year (127 vs. 170). In the playoffs, with two home games at B.C. Place, the Lions took 22% fewer penalties (14 vs. 18). I would tend to attribute...

Re: Any word on season ticket sales?

Still, if you were to price out each seat and take an average, I think we would come out at or near the top (especially since we have the highest low-end price point in the league). DH  Some of the numbers in the Blue Bombers' annual report provide an interestnig comparison. The team reported...
