Re: Braley sells the Argos to Bell and Kilmer

Before everyone gets too outraged by this, I could all but guarantee that if this were to happen in Vancouver (i.e. Braley handing over ownership to the Aquilini Group and playing at a new outdoor stadium) on the same day that Friedman had just tweeted that Babcock had just signed to coach the Canu...

Re: Braley looks to secure lease at BMO Field

Classic CFL bad luck having the Babcock deal take the spotlight.

Re: Patriots Investigated re Deflated Footballs

Doesn't matter if it had no effect on the game, in my opinion. Cheating on something like this can't be tolerated. Fines mean nothing, draft picks can hurt. I think a one year suspension like with Sean Payton is appropriate, starting as soon as possible (assuming this all proves true). Does anyone h...

Re: How fast is a football going as it leaves the punter's f

It was always a pretty good test of bravery in rugby to try to block a kick from hand.

50-60 mph sounds about right. There has to be something on the web about it.

I wonder if Pratt has been to a Superbowl in the last 20 years, let alone ever.

Re: Official NFL Thread: 2014-2015 Season

A former director of the FBI has been brought in to do an independent investigation. "Independent" - overseen by two pro-Goodell owners who have a huge pecuniary interest in the findings. Two old standards in situations like this - the cover up is worse than the crime, and "what did ...

A touchdown.
I knew that softball wouldn't be hanging over the plate very long.

Re: Arland Bruce sues CFL over concussions

I remember Wally letting Jarious start a game when his throwing shoulder was still iffy at best. Buck, CP, DD, JJ and maybe others were not well managed as I recall.

Re: Concussions in football, and lawsuits

I remember Marino quitting his post as Senior VP of the Dolphins after about three weeks because it was a drain on family life.

Might be a bit of a flake.

Re: Geroy packing it in

I don't get the retiring as a Rider/Lion distinction. It seems empty and ceremonial to me.

He retires as Geroy Simon, football player. His career and his legacy, in my mind, don't turn on a press conference and a phony contract.

Re: Official Sochi 2014 Olympics Thread

Can't believe that Henrik Lundquist is named the All-Star goalie over Carey Price. Or awarding the tournament MVP to Teemu Selanne even though he was neither the points nor the goals leader. I guess the voters got too sentimental and appealed to the pity over the fact that he never struck gold in a...

sure wish someone would identify the ahole that went after him at the bar. whoever it was should be tarred and feathered and banned from Vancouver forever. or maybe something a little less legal. The post of the year. LOL. Tarring and feathering is not exactly in our law books. Lucic didn't exactly...

Re: David Braley Resigns His Senate Seat

I like Braley, but it's not like the Senate wasn't already the pinnacle trough of patronage when he was appointed.

I will give him credit for stepping down, but would be truly impressed if he had passed on it to begin with.
