Re: Lulay leaves front office

I wonder if in the future Lulay can be enticed by TSN to do some TV broadcasts. The couple of times that I saw him as a colour commentator he was like the CFL's version of the NFL's Tony Romo: former QB now announcer looks at the Defensive Formation, then tells the TV audience what the QB will do be...

Re: COVID-19 : How it could impact Lions/CFL

https://www.sportsnet.ca/football/cfl/cfl-commissioner-admits-2020-season-likely-cancelled/ Ambrosie testified to a House of Commons standing committee on finance today. Sounds like he is conceding the season is done--there will be no attempt at empty stadium games. Empty-stadium games, even for a ...

Re: COVID-19 : How it could impact Lions/CFL

Playing games at a single site or neutral sites is a non-starter in my view. Most teams do not come close to selling out in the best of times. If they were selling tickets for even more games including teams not based in their area--in the middle of a highly contagious global pandemic--with mass un...

Re: COVID-19 : How it could impact Lions/CFL

IMO, It is not very likely that there will be a 2020 CFL season. Even if they could pull off a partial season it would be a money losing venture. And Covid-19 is likely far more widespread in B.C. than case numbers indicate. This is because until recently only hospital workers were being tested in B...

Interesting you mention Lulay, Cromartie... I thought the same thing. His college highlights looked a lot like Lulay's. Coincidentally, they were both Bobcats!
Lulay was a Montana State Bobcat out of Bozeman, MT .

Rourke was a University of Ohio Bobcat of of Athens, OH.

Re: why is CFL interest so tepid in toronto?

The failure of the Bills in Toronto series of a few years ago would indicate that T.O. is just not a football town. Maybe a more top tier NFL city would have been a bigger draw but a golden opportunity for T.O. fans to tell the NFL to get a NFL franchise in their city was blown. A sizeable number of...

Re: 2020 CFL draft

Williams goes from being an unsigned American free agent in 2019 to the first overall Canadian pick in 2020. I hope he has a successful career for obvious reasons but also because this is a wacky story. While Williams walked away from a PR salary last season he will get a #1 draft pick salary this ...

Re: 2020 CFL draft

I was expecting more to that. Drop back 3 spots in the 2nd to move up 2 spots to #1 overall is a pretty cheap price to pay. Yea, that's what I thought too. When they said "BC has acquired the first overall pick from Calgary," I thought for sure we'd have to give up a roster player. Then I'm like, s...

I think if there is no 2020 season than the 2021 draft will have reduced number of rounds.

All it takes it someone to attack someone's view and get the Mods on the file. This is the last post I'll deliver to this site. ^^^What is this all about? If left to my own devices I would guess that a post got deleted....People are getting stressed, especially about the virus...so I suggest take a...

Re: COVID-19 : How it could impact Lions/CFL

I saw a thing on TV where Bettman and the NHL are talking about the fantasy (my word) of setting up to play a bunch of NHL fanless playoff games in Edmonton. Several nearby hotels to house teams.

I guess they have the $$ to do this but not enough virus test kits.

Re: Who are your Top 5 Despicable B.C. Lions Players?

I disagree about the Pez. My recollection is that the Lions were broke and ownerless and the Premier of B.C. asked Pezim to take over the ownership and debts. It was Pezim's wining and dining Flutie that was a factor in Flutie agreeing to come to Canada to play. When Flutie became a FA, one could ar...

Re: COVID-19 : How it could impact Lions/CFL

The other day Dr. Henry used the PNE as an example of an event that will be cancelled. From that I concluded that the CFL season is also cancelled, although there is nothing to be gained by announcing it now. My guess is that the CFL season and likely other sports as well will be postponed until a v...

Re: LaPolice picks best all-time CFL minds (all former Lions)

For most of Wally's time in B.C. he was a HC/GM. It is the GM part of the job where he excelled: evaluating and signing players, managing the SMS and the draft. He relied heavily on his assistants for the coaching part but I often thought the personnel assembled was better than what results on the f...

Re: LaPolice picks best all-time CFL minds (all former Lions)

Don Mathews for defense. Mathews would be my second choice. Ralph Sazio, of the then dominate on defense1960s TiCats would be my first choice. He was disguising defenses way ahead of his time. If you were a D player and in practice were 1 foot off your mark of where you should be lining up, a serio...
