Re: Injury Updates for 6/28/17

Williams has to sit out one more game before he comes off the 6-game injured list. He is allowed to practise now with the team. Wally made it clear to Lowell Ullrich today that Williams will take the place of Nick Moore on the roster when he comes back, as originally planned at training camp. Wally ...

Re: CFL Games of Week 5, July 19 - July 24

Trevor Harris has a league-high 4 fumbles and Ottawa has a league-high 6 fumbles lost. If Harris protected the ball better, Ottawa could be 4-1-1 instead of 1-4-1.

Re: Lions 45 - Bombers 42, Post-Game Stats and Comments.

People who have never seen an onside field goal attempt have short memories. The Lions were victimized by a similar play in 2012 by Sean Whyte, who was then playing for Marc Trestman in Montreal. Whyte had tried the same play a few weeks earlier against Hamilton, but was unsuccessful. Edmonton also ...

Just heard on Sekeres/Lalji that Rintoul is officially gone (his choice, according to Sekeres), and Moj will be doing PBP on Friday.
Rintoul discussed his new job today with Patrick Johnston of The Province:

Re: 2017 All Things Lions Marketing & Promotions

BTW, if anyone talks about moving the CFL season up, PUSH BACK! It may work for some cities but would be disastrous in this market. Not a lot of appetite for pigskin in early July, let alone May or June! DH  Agreed. Would also be an even bigger disaster in Toronto, especially if the Leafs and...

Re: Lions 45 - Bombers 42, Post-Game Stats and Comments.

On the sleeper play, with Keynan Parker out of the game, Purifoy checked in late from the Lions' bench on the opposite side of the field and no one covered the wide side. The onside Winnipeg player was well hidden standing immediately in front of the Bomber bench. I couldn't see him from my end zone...

Re: Lions 45 - Bombers 42, Post-Game Stats and Comments.

Here's a good breakdown from a Bomber perspective of how the Lions exploited the Bomber secondary. For the second week in a row, Khari Jones and Travis Lulay relentlessly picked on inexperienced members of the opposition secondary to rack up over 400 yards passing. Kudos to Khari for the game prep a...

Re: 2017 All Things Lions Marketing & Promotions

The Lions just played three straight games in the Eastern Time zone for the first time in their history, with local TV start times of 4 or 4:30 p.m. One of those games was in Montreal where most Als fans watch on RDS, not TSN. You're not going to draw a lot of West Coast viewers under those circums...

Re: Lions 45 - Bombers 42, Post-Game Stats and Comments.

Thanks to Medlock's failed pass, followed by Nichols' interception, the Lions scored 11 late points off turnovers and won the turnover battle 3-2. Gambling in football is like gambling elsewhere. It's great if you win but can be costly if you lose. I've seen O'Shea's teams gamble and lose a lot.

Re: Lions 45 - Bombers 42, Post-Game Stats and Comments.

Harris seemed to run out of gas in the fourth quarter, along with the rest of the Bomber offence. In the first half, he was running through arm tackles, spinning away from would-be tacklers and even hurdling Keynan Parker on one play. In the fourth quarter he was being brought down by one tackler in...

The latest word on Jennings' injury, from Jason Botchford in The Province, is that he has torn ligaments in his shoulder and is expected to be out three to six weeks.

Re: Lions 45 - Bombers 42, Post-Game Stats and Comments.

What constitutes roughing the kicker? I always thought if the would be blocker did NOT contact the ball and struck the kicker, it was a penalty. However in this case, the blocker contacted the ball before Long had even kicked it and then struck his kicking leg. So to my way of thinking, the blocker...

Re: Lions 45 - Bombers 42, Post-Game Stats and Comments.

Buddy Jackson and Steven Clarke are experienced international DBs. Either could be activated along with rookie national CB Nate Hamlin, who looked good in camp. Both internationals could be activated if the Lions remove one of their two backup international linemen, Andrew Hudson or Josh Shirley.
