Re: Lions 45 - Bombers 42, Post-Game Stats and Comments.

The fourth quarter shutout is impressive given the was the defence was shuffled at halftime due to injuries. Bucknor played field corner, Fenner moved from nickel to field halfback, Thompson moved from field corner to safety and Purifoy moved from safety to nickel. That's four changes, with only Yel...

Re: The decline of Vancouver sports media & its effect on Lions

Back to the title of this thread: The Lions story filed on TheProvince.com was a Canadian Press 'dry, white toast' recap. All game-over stories are the same, no matter who writes them, given that they're filed the minute the game ends. Jason Botchford has covered the team all week for The Province ...

Re: Lions 45 - Bombers 42, Post-Game Stats and Comments.

Incredible game. Special teams, turnovers and penalties nearly cost the Lions the game. B.C. mistakes gave Winnipeg almost all their points. I think the Bombers only generated one or two TD drives on their own, including the third quarter drive that started with a 51-yard bomb to Adams over Ronnie Y...

Yell and Lee are the only DBs playing their usual positions.

Re: Leos at home to Bombers

Lulay was 18 of 23 for 254 yards in the first half. The Bombers are leaving the field-side wide receivers open in zone coverage and Lulay is hitting them for easy completions. We'll see if they change up their coverage and play more man in the second half.

How can you have no yards on a blocked punt? The ball has already been touched.

That was not a TD. Zebras 0-2 on those calls.
If the ball crosses the LOS, it's not considered a blocked kick. I had the same discussion with the guy next to me in the stands.

Re: Leos at home to Bombers

The loss of Parker was probably a factor in not recognizing the sleeper play. He's usually on special teams. The Lions played five Canadians in defence in the second quarter: Forde, Menard and Luke on the line and Thompson and Parker or Buckner in the secondary.

Re: Lions 41 - Ti-Cats 26, Post-Game Stats and Comments

I hope Heaps doesn't have to play at all. Jennings, Lulay and Ross would all have to be hurt for that to happen. I don't even want to see Ross play unless it's in a short-yardage situation or as a holder for Ty Long, and Lulay has done well in both of those roles.

Re: The decline of Vancouver sports media & its effect on Lions

I heard Bros Jakes contract is not being renewed. stay tuned. BB I just might stay tuned if that's the case. If 1040 would rid themselves of Bro Jake, and at least repeat the daytime shows in the evenings instead of replaying American sport shows, it may capture my attention once again in those tim...

Re: CFL Games of Week 5, July 19 - July 24

Esks win , but Ticats put quite a beating on Reilly . 3 sacks for Ted Laurent against the EE OL, puts things into perspective when comparing to our game last week . Justin Sorenson beat badly by Laurant for a pretty hard hit on Reilly . I thought Cody Husband should have been the West Division all-...

Re: Leos at home to Bombers

It looks like Micah Awe will get his first start at WILL on Friday, and will play a big role in trying to shut down Andrew Harris. Dyshawn Davis is activated as backup. Tony Burnett may be scratched. SFU and St. Thomas More alum Felix Gacusana is activated from the practice roster as a backup O-line...

Re: Leos at home to Bombers

A few game facts and trivia items from the always-informative Game Notes at bclions.com: - Matt Nichols is 3-1 in his career against B.C. - Travis Lulay is 4-4 in his career against Winnipeg. - The Bombers narrowly won both regular season games last year. Re: The decline of Vancouver sports media & its effect on Lions

The timing of the debut; on the eve of Canucks training camp, start of NFL season, and last month of MLB, no doubt means the show is going to be talking Canucks-Seahawks-Blue Jays (in that order, unless the Jays pull off a miracle comeback in the next 6 weeks) with little to no time left for the Li...
