Re: Training camp 2024
Fantastic stuff BC FAN and Hambone. Sounds like Moj and Gulio will be doing nightly shows starting next week and leading into the first pre-season game in Calgary next Saturday. The Lions and the CFL season is going to quietly sneak up on the casual sports fan with the Canucks making their first ser...

Re: Yikes! Lions 2024 potential free agents
Last year BC had 2 DL in the 20 highest paid DEs and DTs. This year they grouped them all together and listes only 15. Argos have the top 2 and 3 in total. Hamilton also lists 3, all in the top 7. Ottawa chips in another 3 and Montreal 1 giving the East 10 out of 15. Out West Winnipeg with 2, Calga...

Re: Training camp 2024
The afternoon half of Thursday's mini-camp started more low key, with walkthoughs to install plays and teach special teams coverage, as well as some positional drills. I counted 57 players in uniform, including receiver Jamarius Way, who was a limited participant. For the first time, Global draft p...

Re: Yikes! Lions 2024 potential free agents
Alexander Hollins spent over half of the 2022 season on the Lions practice roster. Today, he is the league's 5th highest paid receiver thanks to his new 2-year deal signed in early February. Only Geno Lewis and the Blue Bomber trio of Kenny Lawler, Dalton Schoen and Nik Demski rank ahead of him. Cot...

Re: Lions sign QB Dolegala
One of the best features of 3 Down Nation is breaking down the top paid players in the league at each position going into the season. Today they start with top paid QBs with Dolegala and of course VA making the top 15 list. No sign of Prokup. https://3downnation.com/2024/05/07/the-cfls-15-highest-pa...

Re: Lions sign Christian Covington
Seeing $300,000 mentioned but can't see it as being realistic. Could see it being a popular jersey though. According to Farhan they had an offer on the table of $270,000 for Betts so have to think that money has gone to Covington instead and they still needed to dump Menard's $150,000 salary. Speak...

Re: Yikes! Lions 2024 potential free agents
I don't know if there's something going on with Riley Pickett but BC just signed long-time veteran NFL LS Kyle Nelson. Maybe it's just a favour for Kyle's old man Mark who was on Campbell's staff in Ottawa from 2014 thru 2019 and guest coached in Kamloops in 2022. https://3downnation.com/2024/05/02...

Re: Lions sign Christian Covington
Just noticed tonight that Stove Richardson has been transferred to the Retired List. :sigh: https://www.cfl.ca/transactions 2024-05-01 BC RICHARDSON, Steven DT A Minnesota TRF TO RETIRED Perhaps this was the impetus to get Covington signed or just a coincidence? Maybe they asked him to take a pay c...

Re: Lions sign Christian Covington
For all those lamenting the lack of beef in the middle (I think @David may have been chairman of the Where's the Beef Club  ) your prayers have been answered. Ha! I think it is David but I'm certainly a chartered member. The defying moment for me last season was the the Bombers running Olivei...

Lions sign Christian Covington
Whoa! Maybe this doesn’t happen if Betts re-signed and didn’t head down south. The D-line talent is certainly stacked.

Re: 2024 CFL draft (Lion's picks)
Are we ever overdue to develop our own all-star calibre o-lineman. Instead we have relied on B.C. boys and Bomber developed Chungh and Couture to upgrade. Although some would argue they were just fine with Godber who at least panned out as a high draft pick. Other than Godber it’s been Steward, Fabi...

Re: NFL road rocky for Rourke after Patriots draft QB
It just got rockier. NE took a 2nd QB in the 6th round with Joe Milton III of Tennessee. They have 5 in the room now. Talking heads in NFL Network are speculating that Zappe will be traded. There could be a market for a team thinking of him as a #2 over their incumbents. Damn and I thought it was h...

Re: NFL road rocky for Rourke after Patriots draft QB
I recall Farhan saying how Rourke’s stock will drop as each NFL Draft passes and more college QBs enter the picture. Hardly a bold statement but last night we saw 6 QBs selected among the top 12 picks. More will be taken over the next couple days and all will be considered greater investments than a...

Lions, Bombers and Ti-Cats fined for exceeding salary cap
I thought we would have been in pretty good shape in regards to the cap given they cut Lemon to sign Jonathan Kongbo then abruptly traded him and his $123,000 contract to Hamilton for a draft pick albeit he did receive a $20,000 signing bonus from BC. Maybe too many players hit their performance bon...

Horrific kickoff collision has likely ended Hinsperger’s career
Great and sad read here on Lions rookie linebacker Lions’ rookie LB Jack Hinsperger and how the horrific collision with Peyton Logan has in all likelihood ended his football career. All seemed well at the time when he was able to walk off the field. Logan apparently fractured a vertebrae in his neck...
