Re: Lions name Jarious Jackson offensive coordinator and QB coach

I'm in the camp that thinks this is a solid move. Like Rammer says, under the circumstances, this is likely about as good as it is going to get. I am a bit reserved about what qualities he is likely to bring to the position. He has always been a loyal soldier and that is something that this team has...

Re: Lions trade Chris Williams to Montreal for Gabe Knapton

As for Williams performance as a Lion, it is easy to forget that he didn't start until almost half way through the season after coming off a serious injury. There is that aspect for sure. It's not a given that all players will pick things up exactly where they left off after a serious injury. I thi...

Re: Washington 2nd frontrunner for Als Head Coaching Gig

Given the Al's offensive woes, it really wouldn't make sense for them to hire a Defensive Coach as head coach. They need a HC that understands the Offensive side of the game and that isn't Washington.

Re: Lions trade Chris Williams to Montreal for Gabe Knapton

As for Williams performance as a Lion, it is easy to forget that he didn't start until almost half way through the season after coming off a serious injury. And even then, the Lions were too busy imploding in other areas for anyone to say that he was a disappointment. Is there any part of this team ...

Re: Football Operations: Ed Hervey - GM, Wally Buono - VP and HC

Agree JohnnyM. The unusual situation here is going to make it difficult to hire for some positions. The most likely candidates willing to take on this kind of gig are going to be: New Guys, first timers in the pro coaching ranks. Old Guys, ala Wally Buono. Not wanting to do the job for 3 or 4 years ...

Re: QB James Franklin Traded to Argos

Why would Franklin sign? He is a free agent and if Ray is back, he will not want to be a backup. He likely will try to exhaust his NFL options and may wait till free agency to see what offers he gets. I guess this puts to rest the Zach C rumours to Toronto. I somehow think that Toronto has had some...

Re: Manny Just Resigned

I spent the first 2 or 3 posts just trying to wrap my head around what I thought the title had been saying.

NOTE - to avoid confusion for those reading the story for the first time, we have added a hyphen to the heading.

Re: Football Operations: Ed Hervey - GM, Wally Buono - VP and HC

Like to see Jeff Garcia as the new OC. Doubt it will happen though. I hope it doesn't happen. The guy has next to zero coaching experience, He spent about 10 weeks with Montreal in 2014 as a "consultant" and QB Coach and 1 year as an "offensive assistant" with the Rams in 2015. That's his entire ca...

Re: Washington 2nd frontrunner for Als Head Coaching Gig

Be careful what you wish for. For starters, there aren't a lot of top-notch assistants looking for work. Second, this is a transition year. Wally is a lame duck head coach. Any guy will consider the fact that Ed, a new coach, or a possible new owner - may put his own guys in place in 2019. Who want...

Re: Football Operations: Ed Hervey - GM, Wally Buono - VP and HC

That is probably pretty close to the mark WCJ. I'm not sure Dorazio survives to next year. The Oline was pretty abysmal by any standard and that has been a stated area for repair. However, I can also see Dorazio hanging em up along with WB and calling it a career. On that basis, they might give him ...

Re: Football Operations: Ed Hervey - GM, Wally Buono - VP and HC

You know, for someone who is supposed to be a catch, he seems to have been a loose ends for awhile. I really don't know how good he is but you might think that if he has that much of a cachet around the league, he would have been snapped up far more quickly. He was let go by Edmonton less than 8 mo...

Re: Football Operations: Ed Hervey - GM, Wally Buono - HC

So, Wally is going to follow the direction of Ed. when it comes to drafting, trades, coaches and so on? I have one thing to say about that "Yeah right". I'm not a big fan of Hervey, mostly his attitude towards press and fans but I truly fail to understand why he would take this position. There are h...

Re: CFL Season Should Start Earlier

You might be right, I don't know but I think it would be a worthy thing to try. The bottom line is come spring, people are eager after a long dreary winter to be outside. Whether it be gardening, being in the parks what have you. There is often a pent up energy to be doing after having been shut in ...

Re: CFL Season Should Start Earlier

I wouldn't be opposed to starting things up a little sooner. By the time the season gets underway, it feels like much of the nice time of year has been getting under way for a month already. At least in these climes, spring starts in April and yet in the CFL, the first pre-season games are just star...
