Re: CFL Games of Week 14, September 22 - September 24

2017-09-22_0714.png OTT @ WPG With Drew Tate unlikely to play, the REDBLACKS turn to their third-string quarterback and a relative unknown in Ryan Lindley. Suffice to say, Investors Group Field, against one of the CFL’s top playmaking defences over the last two seasons, is not the ideal place to ma...

Re: Leos vs Tabbies

“Clevinger was guilty, of course, or he would not have been accused, and since the only way to prove it was to find him guilty, it was their patriotic duty to do so.” -- Catch 22 I looked for a quote, BlItz. That is the best I could come up with from that very funny book. We will see who is guilty t...

Re: Leos vs Tabbies

Execute. Execute the offence. Easier said than done. IMO Lulay performed miracles on his return this year. But it is possible, methinks. Jennings has done it at times, but that was mostly before he became a focus of detailed planning for the opposition. Can he do it now? Here's hoping. "Take him out...

Re: Lions vs. Ticats Sept. 22, 2017

Starting two imports again on the O-line is a bit of head scratcher. I think the club is so wigged out about Jonathon hanging onto the ball too long and trying to give him as much time in the pocket as possible....but we really could use Nick Moore as extra weapon. Honestly, if we're not going to u...

Leather helmets.

In the days when pro football players were not fashion models. Ha ha

Re: Is it time to institute replay for helmet to helmet contact?

Not following NFL football much these days. So I had not heard of Pete Carroll teaching rugby tackling. I really like the notion. Another example of Carroll's forward-looking, outside the box thinking IMO. As much as possible keep the head of it. Also, I have posted on this site a few times about le...

Re: Stampeders 27 - Lions 13, Post-Stats and Comments

Singleton was drafted by the Calgary Stampeders with the sixth overall pick in the 2016 CFL Draft. He became a Canadian citizen in October 2015 and qualified for dual citizenship because his mother was born in Toronto. He signed with the team on May 17, 2016. Singleton made his CFL debut on June 25...

Good points, Guys.

Rugby tackling.

No helmets.

Leather helmets.

Consider methods to prevent concussions.

Re: Stampeders 27 - Lions 13, Post-Stats and Comments

Not a fan of Singleton as he seems to be something of a showboat. But he can play. Calgary's defence fully exploits his speed, and his ability to read the play. His form tackling reminds me of Adam Bighill. Singleton and JJ24. (Not many highlights for us in the CFL clip.) 2017-09-20_0209.png

Ty Long prevents a TD on a punt return by Finch. Although Purifoy with his speed might have run him down.

STs. The punt would have been blocked by B.C.

But no backup. No one spying on the outside.

Maver takes off. From 3rd and 15 to 1st down.

Re: Stampeders 27 - Lions 13, Post-Stats and Comments

A wider angle look. 5 receivers. 8 in coverage. No one has found a hole in the zone. Jennings tries to force it in. Calgary was sitting on the routes very well. "He was waiting and reading the throwing angle in the lane," says Suitor. His pass might have made it, but the underneath man slides over t...
