Appears to be a true feel good story with Covington returning. I expect a lot of leadership that will benefit the young guys he will be playing with. Doesn't sound like money was an issue.
Kind of thinking Daniel Joseph is going to be in the rotation with Cherry and Bemiy.

Re: CFL Coaching & GM Changes for 2024
Nice to hear that Chris Rainey has landed a high school coaching job in Ocala, Fla. It was mentioned that he had been operating as the Chris Rainey Speed Shop which I found very appropriate. IMO he had great running form. Wishing him the best in the new job.

Re: Lions sign QB Dolegala
Harris won't need to run because instead he can just hand off or pitch out to Ouellette, one of the CFL's top RBs. Ouellette is probably doing sit-ups as I write this and good thing because he is going to get pounded. Him staying healthy will be a feat on its own. I do like him as a player but ther...

Re: Lions sign QB Dolegala
Best of luck to the good fans of the Riders. They have been a patient lot and a credit to the league for the consistent show of support for their team. I agree that they are going to play Harris. It's not what I would do. If I am a defensive coordinator playing the Riders the first thing I think is ...

Re: Lions sign QB Dolegala
Mace is a rookie HC with a rookie OC. He wants his HC career to get off to a good start. No way would he start out by entrusting his own job security in a totally unproven talent like Fine, in the most important position on the field, when he has a seasoned proven veteran like Harris. Risking thing...

Re: Lions sign QB Dolegala
Obviously it will take a VA injury for Dolegala to get anything more than garbage time reps. Same thing goes for any #2 behind an entrenched starter. Totally agree that barring a VA injury Prukop will be busier. I doubt Dolegala is part of a succession plan. VA is under contract thru 2026. Dolegala...

Re: Lions sign QB Dolegala
Not suggesting Jake should supplant VA but he is a solid option if VA has health issues .. God forbid. Harris is probably in his last year which makes me very surprised the Riders did not re-sign Jake or didn’t recruit someone better than Mason Fine who is not a CFL calibre QB. V.A. getting hurt wo...

Re: Horrific kickoff collision has likely ended Hinsperger’s career
I agree it is unfortunate Jack Hinspirger was injured on the play and wish him the best in recovery and future endeavors. No doubt it happened fast. That said, I have been enjoying the kickoffs / returns in the UFL. Haven't got a full grasp of the rules yet but it seems to be working well. IMO a goo...

Re: Lions sign QB Dolegala
Many are looking forward to seeing Dolegala throw the ball but I personally don't see him getting a lot of game day reps with V.A. being the starter barring injury. Could be more succession planning at this point with Dolegala being only 27 and Adams 31. I believe Dakota Prukop will be the busier of...

Re: CFL Coaching & GM Changes for 2024
No mention of Beau Baldwin being added to the Calgary coaching staff with yesterdays football ops announcement. Could be it wasn't high enough on the pecking order to be mentioned although I thought it was a step in the right direction for Jake Maier when they announced it a few months back. Things...

Re: Lions, Bombers and Ti-Cats fined for exceeding salary cap
I was wondering which injury or event pushed the Lions over but can't recall an extended stay on the one game that would have caused the issue. Couldn't find it but thought Dom Rhymes was moved to the six game list which would have made even more space given his contract. Even V.A. was on a team fri...

Re: Lions, Bombers and Ti-Cats fined for exceeding salary cap
Can you translate that into layman's English Don? For whatever reason I can't figure out what you're trying to say. I was making reference to the portion of the player compensation package exempt from the SMS. While contract details remain highly guarded information Tim White was one who was said t...

Re: Yikes! Lions 2024 potential free agents
Still appears to be lots of love for Lucky with a nice rant and highlight reel of last season from Dr Phil on the Lions sub forum at CFL.ca. Some kind words from Alexander Hollins as well interviewed at the CFL content shoot in Hamilton. Says he still has the speed. Hopefully he is working out and r...

Re: Lions, Bombers and Ti-Cats fined for exceeding salary cap
Sounds like the Lions need do more "marketing" and it would be nice to see the totals in that column to have an objective opinion of the compensation.
